If you have seen it running and got a good demo and liked it enough to buy it, you should have no problems. It's up to you if you like it or not and not what others think.
Looks like a nice set. Should produce a nice image. Just remember to adjust the settings, as out of the box it will probably look not to good.

You'll have to get a HDMI to DVI adaptor I'd say and while 720p is good 1080p is really where it's at

I belive you've got a HDCP capable DVI input but not a HDMI input. If you have something with a HDMI output you'll have to use an adaptor to fit it in the tv.

Is that like where i'd have to buy a scart lead in the case of SD broadcasts/tv's/equipment.. ?

As far as i was aware, as long as the TV has the "HD Ready" logo/badge it was compatible with other HD equipment, i thought that was part of the conditions to display the "HD Ready" logo?

DVI is compatible, but it wont be the standard input used. That'll be HDMI. Look Here for a picture of what you need

You will need to get a RCA to Minijack cable to get the audio to your TV as DVI doesnt carry audio.

That's correct but that doesn't mean you won't need an adapter.

It's like buying something that only has composite out and you need a scart adaptor if your tv only has a scart input

Your comet should have an adaptor like the one I posted for £30. They will get cheaper over the next few months though.

I use one of these and it's fine. Don't pay £30, that's abit on the steep side.

Thanks.

SkyHD is a few more months away yet, hopefully prices will come down.. unless i'll need it for now? The TV is coming on friday, it'll work with my normal sky+ box and other things right?

Yes. At the moment sky boxes use scart cables and sky+ can use scart or s-video.

Sorry if this sounds stupid but im a newbie to this HD thing. I have a Samsung LE32R41BD which has a resolution of 1366 x 768 and carrys the HD Ready logo will this output good pictures at 720p and 1080i.

And my second question is if Blu Ray players are going to have there films in 1080p will this mean my screen wont be compatible with Blu Ray.

Cheers

This is the same tv i have and it is very good, like many posters have said it has dvi(hdcp) not hdmi so a converter lead will be required to use hdmi ,but they are not really expensive, overall over the few weeks i have had mine i have been impressed

Cool.. I Dont suppose you could show any pictures? I'm as excited as a little boy the day before christmas.. i cant wait to get it..

also, using the adaptor can i still expect the same quality as if it had the right connections on the tv itself?

Thanks,

Michael

ill see what i can do about the photos, but the only difference as far as i can see between dvi and hdmi is that hdmi carrys the sound as well whereas dvi only carrys pictures

Since both HDMI and DVI are digital there should theoreticallty be no loss in quality (if there was they wouldn't slap HD Ready on HDMI-less sets).

It doesn't work like that, exactly. Most HD sources can output a variety of resolutions and your TV probably can upscale and downscale various resolutions. What it means is that you'll be able to watch but in the highest resolution your TV supports which is 1080i downscaled to 768p

Yep camaj, BluRay and HD-DVD players and recorders should be like the Xbox 360 in that you will be able to select what output you would like.
