Good for unedited, bad for PPV?

Good to hear they are considering an unedited channel,,... kinda bad they are considering making us pay for it. More money for them.

Well they have to make their cash somehow

It's also a way of making sure that the person paying for that channel is over 18.

They have no need to make this pay for view we should only need a pin number. As far as i'm concerned we pay enough already!

It's ALL about money (live with it).

How much money from the twenty two million plus calls this time will they give to charity? I've given £5 to the African Famine appeal instead of WASTING it on calls to the BB machine.......I'll sleep a little more soundly tonight.

If you still get the E4 feed then what are people complaining about?

I'll be more than willing to pay extra for the uncut feed in future series.

People will pay for PPV, therefore they will charge.

Also It won't be uncut, there is still slander & privacy to worry about. But in theory we should never see the chickens, although they may cut the sound.

They screw us over every media going.

CD's 14 quid.

DVD's 19 etc etc.

As long as we swallow the obscene prices they will continue.

If they dropped prices to 4.99 for a cd and 9.99 for a dvd there would be alot more sales and alot less piracy. IMO anyway

So if they are now saying that they can allow full unedited broadcasts next year, it makes a nonsense of the fact that they always said that the sound cuts were due to legal reasons.

Why?
Because when the feeds are being broadcast after 9pm, that is past the watershed hour when bad language is allowed.

It also begs the question about how precious they are about mentioning things like brand names, when it appears that next year they have made it allowable. Has there been a sudden change in the law.

I'm wondering now, that all that stuff about hiding logos etc. was just a ruse to allow them to edit out things that help them project a perspective on events of their own choice.

I've seen many programmes nowadays that casually mention brand names.

Surely it would be easier to edit certain words with a simple bleep as other programmes do. There's no need to edit out minutes of conversation.

Why does everyone keep going on about C4 making money, they are a business thats what they do. They are not a charity in it for the hell of it. If you don't what to give them money, do not vote, do not buy the DVD. Simple!!

Well I hope they charge a one off series fee of say, £15 or £20, I'd pay that. Any more and its a rip off imo.

ianb - I hate to be picky, but they C4 are a public service broadcaster, and do not make any money.

No, they’re not. They have a licence and a remit from the Government but unlike the BBC, their responsibility is to their shareholders not the public. They operate in much the same way as ITV as opposed to the BBC and where on Earth do you get the idea they’re not in this to make money??!! It’s the ONLY reason they broadcast.

A cynic might say that your £5 almost certainly went towards buying a gun.

Good point Bystander, but how much control do I have over the way in which the government spends my taxes in this country?
We're all paying for nuclear weapons and the bombing of Iraq whether we like it or not. But at least "we're a democracy"..........

By saying that I gave money to the famine appeal rather than spending it on BB voting I'm not trying to sound pious just stating my personal preference in how I spent a little of my own money. End of lecture.
