Delayed Sound From Home Cinema

i have a JVC TH-S55 dvd home cinema.
when i have volume from the tv via sky there seems to be a slight delay from the home cinema speakers.
any suggestions...

The delay is due to the additional processing for the cinema sound.

As AdamS states - the cause of the problem is the fact it is taking the home cinema system time to process the sound where as your TV is much quicker at processing the video.

Whilst even cheap setups have the ability to delay the audio for the more common problem of the video being behind the screen (some plasma/ LCD screen cause a significant delay due to processing the video). There are external boxes you can buy to delay the sound to fix the plasma issue but I am not aware of any extra boxes you can buy to delay the picture.

With more advanced systems the video and sound goes through the home cinema system and it internally can sycronise the 2 - though to be honest these types of units have more powerful/ quicker processors so probably never really need them.
