As a sweeping generalisation it would probably be true to say you would be less superior than people who went to university, if you left school at 16.

Thats terribly rude, how DARE you?

I dont consider ANYONE to be more or less 'superior' than myself, at the end of the day, we all p*** and s***, even the Queen!

What about actual LIFE experience?

It does make you less superior than those of US who go to University. Why do you think we command more respect not to mention tons more money? ”

So you reckon that you're more superior than hyacinthbee, someone you know practically nothing about?

Well your logic is flawed, as I respect hyacinthbee more than I do you.

You command respect do you? Oh, well you must really deserve it then.

If you're so superior, what on earth do you mean by, that you command tons more money?

I'm not sure those "everyone is exactly the same" arguments really make much sense anymore.

By superior I could've been referring to anything, for example "a superior academic education", as I mentioned in the post above, it was a generalisation and I also said ...probably. I like to see you don't consider anyone superior to you, you don't have a boss then, lucky you. I think we are probably working on different definitions of "superior" so should leave it and get back to the thread!!!

I doubt that any really intelligent person would regard themselves as superior just because they went to University.
One of the biggest myths is that getting a degree is difficult, its not, most people could scrap through a degree on very little quality work. In some jobs a degree would be just a waste of time ie modelling/acting. In other cases some people just don't get the chance to go to HE (whether through lack of money or becos their social/family environment doesn't encourage it). That doesn't mean they are unintelligent - as many go on to do well despite it.

In the end an openness to new experiences and the curiousity to learn (aka maybe Jade) are more important in the long run. Some people go into university thick and come out thick at the end of it. Three or four years in the course of a lifetime isn't that momentus an experience.

Having a degree does not mean you automatically possess common sense or life skills. I have had one for some time now and am still as nutty as I've always been. Wouldn't know common sense sometimes if it hit me between the eyes.

Then I doubt you really do have a degree. Anyway there are varying levels of superiority relating to which subject degree you have. After all you could hardly compare a Sociology degree with one in Medicine for example. Sociology is a low level degree for example.

Ok..... right......... I get annoyed when people twist things.
alex was annoyed that he found out that kate nominated him every week.. yes that is fact. Why? because if you remember. ( i wonder at some peoples memorys) They made up and even played follow the van. That week Alex didnt nominate Kate.
He thought that week she had less issues with him than others. Yet she still nominated him !! He didnt !!
A sense of betrayal perhaps ? A feeling of being taken for a ride and been made a fool of?
yes it is a game and she played it well......... too well.... very well acted Bravo!
But remember they are also people with feelings and i think he did have a soft spot for her.
talking of going over old ground..... i noticed Kare bought up the oranges on E4 tonight and that was on her own in the bedroom.
she harbers grudges just the same as the rest of them .......
harping over...... I'm watching E4 this week on winners week and trying to watch it objectively. I'll let you know if she wins me over..... so far she hasnt .... think it was the case of the little girl wanting an autograph. instead of thankyou for voting for her it was " one of 3 million that voted for me " if i was that little girl i would have felt belittled as she was a fan. she didnt need reminding how many others had voted for her.
”

You won't change your mind about Kate from watching any of the progs this week, because you'll twist it all round to your way of seeing things. Kate was genuinely upset and hurt by Alex's treatment of her over the oranges and washing in the cooking pot. She only cried when she confronted him with it and he said 'oh don't start that girl' paraphrased but close. She has said on several occasions that she cried out of frustration at what he said and the way he said it - I know just how she feels. As far as the short progs go,I'm not keen on some of the things she's said so far either and I've been a fan from day 1, but I,m prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt - she's still in shock, no sleep etc., but I'd bet money that you'll feel the same by the end of the week - and know what - I don't care because she doesn't need folk like you to care one way or the other

My, you do have an high opinion of yourself, if im not mistaken, you're only 18 years old, so still have at least 2 years to go before you gain your so important degree.

Dont count your chickens, babe! (you're not 'superior' just yet!)

agree... don't think there was ever anything or will be between Adele and Alex, or Alex and Kate... or PJ/Jade who actually got it together a lot more! Being couped up in the same house for a long time with the same people does strange things to the brain guys!!! ”

I agree - I don't think there was anything 'real' apart maybe from Kate and Spanky There are several reasons for the 'pairing off' the main one being to have an ally. That was how I first felt about Alex and Adele but then Adele began to seem as though she did have genuine feelings for him. In a hostile environment it's nice to have someone to depend on and if you can fancy them too, that's a bonus!!

It's also peer pressure - if everyone else has someone special, you feel left out if you don't have one too. that was the Lee and Adele thing, althoug if I were Sophie I'd have to wonder how quickly Lee can change allegience in a month.

Alex's down fall with Kate was that he didn't understand why she was upset - which is a 'man thing' obviously!! she was hurt at how he spoke to her and the compounded it by doing it agina. She also saw the way he did the same to Jade and began to question his sincerity. Playing FTV after a skinfull is not a sign of anything other than alcohol + lust, with the unfnortunate consequence that whereas in real life you'd just go to work and forget it ever happened, in the house you had to confront it again and again

Why would you doubt that G has a degree? that's a very off the top of your head judgement and totally unfounded as far as I can see. I too have a degree in a 'serious' subject from a red brick university, but that would have no bearing on how I express my views about a TV programme on a forum. I have never even considered the level of education of anyone on these forums with whom I communicate - opnly their level of rudeness or otherwise

I can never understand why after I or anyone else put something up on here, that has been SEEN on the TV .it is totaly dismissed by Jonny and Kate fans I warmed to alex when he was on the poor side.
I liked Jonny until his 2nd nomination and made such a fuss about " how dare anyone nominate him and bring his family down here again " I thought from then that he was too much up himself. I dont think alex has been a saint and has done stuff wrong too....... BUT he knew he had, like in the diary room saying he was beginning to p*** himself off.. he knew his faults and admitted them. Until kate nominated alex the same week as follow the van and her reasons for doing so, after I had watched them all week on E4 I liked her a lot too. Then we started to see Jonny and Kate talking nominations all the time and getting tactical. For example on the poor side by the boxes on the wall by the shower. I even emailed Channel 4 and told them what i thought. The following week there were no nominations because of the fuss about Jade. Non of the hm were angels. But just cos kate won there were a lot who didnt vote for her too. maybe we wernt impressed by the skimpy wear and flirting to avoid nominations.
so Jonny and Kate fans... I dont HATE either of them. I just didnt like the way they played the game. That doesnt make me evil nor twisted nor spitful. just a BB fan who had a different opinion and is entitled to express an opinion as you are......
”

I do agree that Kate began to view the whole thing more as a game which she had a chance to win later in the programme and after as you say, she spoke to Jonny about it. I also believe that she did not think she would actually win - but by the last week when there were only 4 of them, they all KNEW there was a chance. Alex talked more about in the DR than Kate, but maybe not as much as Jonny!

Kate continued to nominate Alex because she had no reason to change her views on him. He had still been very mean to her and to Jade - just because he wanted to play FTV when he was pi***d didn't change what he had previously done, and she had no real reason to nominate anyone else at that stage. It's a far better reason than 'he peed in the shower last century' surely

Great posts people!

I have to say I agree with JoJo4 totally, I never understood why Alex was allowed to get away with 'peeing in the shower' as a reasonable justification for his nominations. At the end of the day, Kate may have flirted with Alex but she didn't like him. As far as I recall, she never said to him 'I like you' so I fail to see how her nominating him post=playing Follow the Van was being two-faced. I laughed when I watched the pyschologist a couple of weeks ago claiming Alex and Kate had the most genuine relationship in the house, but oh I forgot, its the same guy who claimed Kate and Spencer didn't have a 'real' relationship. Pah! I don't think you could call the Alex/Kate dynamic love-hate-love either, that would suggest that it was deeper than it actually was.

If Mel is only 18 then it's truly sad that she's so angry.
At 18 I was having a whale of a time, I loved life with such a passion - that my feet never touched the ground until I was about 24!

Reserve the negativity Mel until you're old like me and are spoiled for choice for things to gripe about!

Considering that I am still awaiting the results of my 4 A levels, I am well aware not to count my chickens although it is predicted by my teachers and expected that I will get top grades. I have studied fashion as well as mostly sciences to give me a broad base and I have applied to several Universities to study medicine and as a second choice fashion (if my grades are not good enough to get into Medicine!). Either way I am making something of myself and once I have achieved my degree I expect respect and loads of money.

why should everyone be like you? and what makes you think Mel is angry? Isn't this just a good way of disguising a cheap dig at someone? If so then I would rather not end up old and bitter thanks.

I must be terribly old fashioned. I would be horrified if my daughter played touchy, feely games in bed with someone she didn't have a modicum of attraction for. Alex must have genuinely thought that she at least liked him.

Respect and money are very similar in some respects:

You have to EARN them.

I do hope you don't find yourself disappointed.

And having earned both I quite expect Mel to earn them too. She appears to have her head very well screwed on.
