Lez Zep's appeal transcends generations. Just such an incredible trailblazing rock band.
Four perfect members. Several near perfect albums. I'm nearing 21 and they've been my favourite band for years. I hope that my grandkids will be listening to them!

rap is cheap n easy to make , relying on its image rather than musical content for fans
with easy and accessable sounding tracks (yes even the hardcore still has melodys with catch hooks like a eurovision song) trapping young uns and impresionable minds with sexist lyrics and hardman attitudes big bank balance for little effort . rap phleh |

yea some music just keeps going like led zeplin, just great rock very well writen. Metallica in fact much of the NWOBHM era before that was awseome. though there is some awsome new stuff about. Dragonforce' s new album Inhuman Rampage totatly kicked my ass! guess what, they do sound a bit 80's though.

Whilst looking at old music, Dire Strait's Alchemy (Live) is a top album!

This thread makes me feel old. Not because I can't stand all this new-fangled noise they have the temerity to call music, but because I've heard it all before. In 1976. John Peel was playing all this new-fangled noise they called punk rock and all the traditional rock fans were up in arms. Plus ca change...

I've been a fan for over 30 years. Their music was, and still is, outstanding. |

Also, I can never look at Slipknot's Gwar style theatrics without the feeling of fake. |

by hiding behind masks they do a kiss ie , like the music and concept not the pretty boy band image its judge us on our terms not yours the op wanted to get back to when bands threashed concerts i was giving an example of two of the finest live bands around today , all was not lost when gnr and zep stopped touring slipknot are new metal(well apeared at around the same time as korn ) and rammstein have done everything from industrial to gothic gnr were everything from bluesy rock to punk rock is a hard one to tie down |

Not only are you regarding all rap as misogynistic, sexist and violent, you're now claiming it's just talking over any old sample? It's laughable.
If it's so easy, considering samples and backing music isn't hard to come by on the internet I expect you to have a quality rap tune knocked out within the day. What with talent not being a factor, you should have no problem. |

One of the reasons I never got into rock was because of bands like this trying to hide their tired, cliched riffs behind their equally tired, cliched image. Music is music is music, its not masks and posturing. |

The vast majority of rap doesn't go on about shooting and prostitutes either.

i make backing tracks and recordings all the time and in reply to the post you made about it being difficult i can tell you now it aint a mouse click and its done with no singer to go out of tune time isnt lost there either 20 mins and a track is in demo form now , most rap is about sexist crap and guns the rest is pants of girls love songs or poor old us we are so hard done by stuff its cheap n nasty and more about the image and street cred than innovation or talent the deffence of rap you give is no more than a slagging of rock than factual information about its style and content |

Rappers like Common, Talib Kweli, DJ Hi-Tech and many others make concieous-rap, rap that make you aware of your surroundings, world issues, loving the people around no matter what their faults. It is not all about talking over samples. |

I didn't mention rock music at all. Although it's neat how you assume I'm not a rock fan because I happen to like hip-hop. As if it's a choice between the two? There are a number of musical genres I don't care for, but you won't find me trying to deny that it takes creativity, skill and artistry to succeed in them, or trying to undermine it via some childish, ill-founded stereotype. |

bllx - there's always been crap in the charts. I'm 42, love Zep (hate G&R
) but love Kasabian, Interpol, Editors, Radiohead, just downloaded some Hard-Fi. Thievery Corporation - they're good - I think music is getting quite interesting again, but the charts have rarely been an indicator of music scenes etc.

Too diss miss any music without properly hearing it is stupid. Im not the biggest rap/hip hop fan, but I can appreciate some of its stuff, like Eminem, RUN DMC and Kanye West. Rap has plenty of talent in it, but you have to listen to the lyrics not their singing abilities! lol
As for old music is the greatest, yes it does seem that way. But I think this year is going to change that!!! This years is going to see brand enw and amazing albums from: The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns N Roses, Velvet Revolver, Muse, The Vines and possibly even Iron Maiden.... this year is going to kick ass for music!!! |

Music peaked, in the sixties and seventies IMHO there is the odd exception though, as there is in everything.
