I have a digital integrated tv which means I can switch between analogue and digital channels. Whilst I can record any of the analogue channels, I cannot fathom out how to record the digital channels.The trouble is reading various sites, I can find info on when you have a seperate set top box, but not when it is actually integrated into the tv.

The set up (installed by driver that brought tv) is as follows:

I have Sony Trinitron Digital tv KD28DX40U, Sony DVD player DVP-NS330 and Panasonic video recorder NV-HD675B. By the way the video recorder is older than the tv and dvd player which were purchased together. I did get a video recorder as well in the package but as I am deaf and need subtitles, the video I have has that facility, hence I cannot replace it with the new one.

The tv is connected by a scart lead to the video. It is also connected to the dvd player by a scart lead and two further leads. The arerial is connected to the tv.

I would have thought that all I had to do was tune in a channel on the video, but trying to do this I cannot find the freeview channels. The instructions for the video does not cater for connecting freeview, and the tv simply says to refer to video instructions!

Any ideas as to what I should do or what direction to go in?? Reading some threads on here it seems you are all quite savvy with things like this!

Please help!!!

The video has no digital tuner so thats why you can't find them.
Normally,a VCR would record Freeview from a scart connection thats connected to the Freeview box.
I have seen previous reports where Freeview recording was only possible if the tv set was on and set to the relevant station,which is not useful at all.
If it is possible for you to watch analogue while sending a digital signal from the tv to the VCR I would say there should be a section in the manual about it.
But with Freeview boxes at £30-£40 it would be less hassle to just buy another one,then you culd watch digital all the time and record one while watching another,aswell as watching proper widescreen broadcasts with full definition which you won't get on analogue

I'm not quite sure which scarts you have set up already but the nub of this is that you cannot 'tune' the vcr to a digital channel per se.

What you need to do is set the VCR to the scart socket which is connected to the TV - so if you have

DVD scart ---> TV AV1
TV AV2 ---> VCR AV2

then you must set your vcr to AV2 to record from the TV when it is showing digital.

If your VCR only has one scart socket (AV1) then you need to set the VCr to AV1 to record digital.

For recording digital when you are out, there will be some way of settingup the tv to go into standby and then activate the scarts when the program comes on (the TV itself maynot come on).

to get the VCr in sync you can set up video+ and change the channel to be AV1 or you can check if your VCR can be activated by a signal from the TV coming to life.
