What's the best online ticket agency?

I've used See, Ticketmaster and Stargreen and a couple of others that were affiliates to one or other of the big names. My experience is that Ticketmaster is the easiest to use online (phone is a different story) and the fastest to send out tickets but you pay a hefty premium for the best service.

Anyone recommend a different agency?

I'd say they're probably all pretty similar, maybe a slight difference in booking fee charge. I used Ticketmaster last year for the first time, the concert i booked for was cancelled, and was dismayed to find they didnt have to inform you it had been cancelled, it was up to you to find out yourself. That could easily be someone only finding out when they try to go to the show on the day, so i'm not keen to use them again. I dont know if any of the other agencies operate that policy.

See will usually send you an email if the event you've booked for is cancelled or re-arranged to another date, and more than once I've had emails apologising for the delay in sending out tickets.

From See's FAQ:

What happens if an event is cancelled or rescheduled?
As soon as an event is officially cancelled we’ll contact you via the contact details you gave us when you booked your tickets. We’ll then explain what happens next, usually a choice between attending a rescheduled event or getting your money back.

I can't find anything similar on Ticketmaster's site. Also See send out e-mails if your tickets are delayed, which means you know they haven't got lost in the post. However I had a problem with an order from See recently which I need to resolve before I use them again.

I've always used Aloud.com for tickets and never had any real problems. The one problem I did have was fault of my own and was quickly sorted over the phone.

Also, although its probably not much use to you, for shows at Rock City in Nottingham I use www.alt-tickets.co.uk (run by themselves). Tickets arrive within a few days of ordering, and booking/postage fees are cheaper than anyone else.

Ticketweb and Stargreen are both fairly good as they don't rip you off with high postage charges and booking fees.

One gripe I have with Stargreen is that they did not inform me that a gig had been rescheduled.

I've received text and voice messages from Ticketmaster over cancellation / rescheduling of gigs. I now ALWAYS give my mobile number when booking tickets.
