Who has the oldest TV still in daily use. I have a Hitachi Instavision no remote so I'm thinking it could be 70's or early 80's and it's as good if not better picture than my 10 year old sanyo .

Oops, sorry, wrong forum - I thought it was home entertainment equipment but I seem to have entered a museum!

Hi i have the same model i bought as new in 1982,

The Instavision thing meant it came on a lot quicker than other TVs and in fact still a lot quicker than modern ones,

It has never been repaired and still works very well,

As it has no remote or scart sockets it is relagated to the loft as a spare in case i have problems with my other more modern Widescreen set,

All i can say is, They dont make em like they used to !!

Hold on a minute. Just got to adjust my vertical and horizontal holds and ....Oh blimey it now gone out of focus and so have got to go around the back and fiddle with that circular magnet thing.

Blast the magnifier has now just dropped off the front of the 9" screen and smashed on my concrete floor. Is there anything better out there now?

I had one of those until a recent house move meant I had to get rid of all my junk, it still worked, I gave it away to someone at my workplace. I remember receiving my instavision as a christmas present in 1985, it was to be the monitor for my Sinclair Spectrum!

Another tv I have is a Baird 14" portable, with a white cabinet and black facia. It has 8 push buttons and a large loudspeaker on it's right. I don't know how old it is, I bought it from a tv repair shop in 1991 to go with a shiny new cable tv box. That also still works, I don't know what the model number is though..

We have a Panasonic 20 in FST (flatter squarer tube) that is about 17 years old and still going strong - had a few TVs since then as main set and have just got a 32in LCD - I really can't see it lasting 17 years although I would like to be proved wrong.

I got my first TV (rented) about 25 years ago and it was really modern as it had a remote control. Further back I fondly remember my parents B & W TV that had lights glowing in the back (valves?) and had a dot in the middle of the screen when I switched off. I would hate to have a 'Life on Mars' type expereince and go back to that (2 channels, no daytime TV)

Oooh, the one I use at the moment is a 15 year old Philips 14".

Downstairs there's a TV which is about 3 years old - a brand only Powerhouse sold (but it totally owns almost every other widescreen 28" CRT I have seen), and another one of the same brand as a 14".

In here I have a Minato which seems to be alright. Must be about 6 or 7 years old.
