Kate to be an Eastender ??

You do realise that Kate has actually got some training though? An A in Drama A Levels? And has done quite a few plays... If that's her dream or ambition, then good luck to her. Hopefully she'll be okay at it. Although, she'll have to more than okay if she wants to make the transition from "reality" TV to television acting.
And as I said, the guy who plays Jamie in Eastenders just showed up at an audition with his mate, and they ended up giving him the part - he had no training at all prior to this. He's actually pretty good.
Personally, I've got no problem with shows like Big Bro or even Pop Idol, in terms of people trying to carve out careers for themselves. I think Will Young has a good voice, and the fact is, without that show, he'd be no where - because he's posh and has a big chin... Big Brother... Well, they have to prove themselves once they get any kind of jobs. If they're good, then fair play to them, if not... Well, them being on big bro will just make the criticism even worse.

There aren't any good actors or scripts in any of soaps so I am sure Kate will fit in quite easily in to Eastenders. I for one cannot stand most of the rubbish British TV put on for us the viewers. I mostly watch American programmes were the acting and scripts are very good. Such as Law and Order, Sopranos and 24 hours.
EPISODE 1, Kate's first day behind the bar in Eastenders:
GARY: Hi babe, I'll 'ave a pint.
KATE: YeSSSSS!!!!!! Or why don't I make some punch?
GARY: Er... dunno ...don't think Lynne would approve.
KATE: YeSSSSSSS, Gary, punch!! Then you and me can do the knee dance, spontaneously fall down, get naked, throw pork scratchings at Fat Pat, puke in the square and jump in the canal!!

It's true that some people have gone into soaps with no or very little acting experience, but Tamzin Outhwaite is not one of them - she worked in the West End for years before landing Eastenders. She has a beautiful singing voice, and can dance.
And an A Level in Drama, of whatever grade does NOT constitute acting experience. If Kate really wants to be an actress, I would suggest she goes to drama school, if she can get in.

This is also my view. She should not be compared to Tamzin just cos of her looks, it's a bit of an insult to her Tamzin I think.
People have to remember we saw Kate acting as Kate for 9 weeks not her as an actress performing a role. Big difference.

I agree 100%. British tv is rubbish. The scripts are pathetic, the acting is non-existant. American tv is much better. British soap acting is appalling. Ok, this is partly due to the little amount of time the actors have to rehearse, but still its pretty dismal. I dont think Kate would have a hard time being a soap star as the actors dont seem to have to be of that good a standard.
Oh, and by the way, its all very well saying Kate is going to drama school, but its extremely difficult to get into one, especially a good one. I doubt she would get into one. And I dont think respectable drama schools would look kindly on a big brother contestant, no offence to Kate

Her dad did say that Eastenders was beneath her (!) and let's face it. She's got the perfect face for radio... nice bum though... perhaps that could have its own show.

Amma from BB2 got a part on Sky drama Dream Team as I recall without any acting experience. At least Kate has actually been to acting lessons and she would be a natural. I believe she will replace Melanie (Tamsin Outhwaite) in the men's affections and will spice up Albert Square. I can see Phil Mitchell pursuing her already!
There is an article on Ananova quoting Eastenders bosses as saying that they have not even considered Kate for an audition and they have no idea where the story originated from.
Besides, her family on RI:SE last week seemed to be of the opinion that Eastenders wasn't good enough for their daughter (something along the lines of "she wants to do serious acting not like those muppets on Eastenders" (!!)

The story lines recently have got a bit stale - I have almost lost interest - if they put Kate on it - that would be the end as far as I'm concerned
