Possibly so Alrightmate, and you have to say that the show would suffer a loss of integrity if they employed Kate, because there is NO WAY the general perception would accept that she won the job on merit!
Having said that, I'm pretty sure that integrity comes a poor second to ratings success. Fortunately, for Eastenders, it seems that it's fiercest rival, Coronation Street, is about to completely abandon all credibility, with a new story line about Les Battersby coming out and having a live in male lover, with pink ducks on the walls.
