Returning a product to Dixons???
DNZ711
21-01-2006
Hi,

About months ago I purchased a Digifusion Fvrt100 (40GB) from Dixons.

But now argos have a better version,
Fusion FVRT145 with a bigger HDD (80GB) for £124.99 (4 quid more!!)

What excuses can I give to take it back??

Will the Loud Fan work, or could I say that it sometimes screws up now and again???

Thanks,

- DNZ

This will be store dependant on who takes it back. Probably not likely.

Firstly you need your reciept. Secondly if the person who sold it to you asked you questions related to a dtt check then you cant claim it works now and again.

If you get a helpful member of staff (they do exist) then he/she may connect the box up and check it in front of you. Mention the fan then. If they are clued then they will know this is normal.

Its always worth a shot.

If there are any bugs that cause your box to crash, try and find out what they are, here http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/...earchid=544317
is a good place to start.
then you can mention these bugs as faults - get your money back job done. in theory

Please let us all know how you get on.

I'd be amazed with Dixon's as their customer service is renowned for being abysmal, and currently they've just issued a profits warning, despite renaming themselves DSG International, to include Dixon's, Curry's, PC World and The Link.

You don't actually say how long you've owned it but, if it's faulty you're on solid ground for a refund. Within 6 years under UK law.

If it's not faulty you're relying on store goodwill.

If it's within 28 days you'll be entitled to a refund *if* it's faulty. After that it'll probably be sent away for repair (unless it's code on the serivce and repair guide means it is replaced instore - don't think so though).

However I will say that it's becuase of people taking used equipment back which is *not* faulty that cost the group money and is ultimately fraud.

You agreed to purchase this equipment, and so think twice about ripping the arse.

Anyway the 145 *hasn't* been released and is untested (so probably some bugs being immature) and has half the program guide (7days Vs 14).

Just shake it, maybe banging it up against the wall. Hopefully osmething will fall apart inside and you can say its faulty.

Next time you start complaining why your latest purchase from Dixons, or any other retail store come to that, is so expensive a quick read of this thread and most of the replies will tell you why! If you made a poor or hasty decision to buy something you now find you don't want who's fault is this? Obviously Dixon's as you seem to think they should foot the bill. Take it on the chin and don't expect others to pay for your mistakes.

That would be seen as "impact damage" which is not covered by the manufactures warrenty. A friend did something similiar and had to pay them £50 to diagnose the fault and found it to not be covered and then wanted to charge him another £200 to repair it (if he wanted them to). The item he bought was only £300 to start with
