Dvd recorder - discs for play on other devices.

I recently got a Panasonic dvd recorder (DMR-EH50). It plays all discs okay. It records programs from the tuner to the hard drive okay.

But after copying a program from the hdd to the dvd i was unable to play it back in my pc. (I want to edit the programs and put them on a server at home)

Is there a stage I haven't done properly in the process of burning a disc?.

please help.

Just wondering if you finalised the disk on the DVD recorder???
It generally shouldnt matter to the PC except if your PC DVD drive happens not to support the format of disk you used. + or -

Just a thought

Can I finalise the disc at any time?

I took it out to try on the pc, so if i put it back in what do i choose on the recorder?

If your recorder supports them, use DVD+RW's - they can be watches in normal DVD playerd without needing finalised.

However, a disc can be finalised and un-finalised as many times as you want. It can be a pain, though.

+RW can be watched without finalisation, but no other discs can.
+R and -R cannot be unfinalised ever.
-RW can be unfinalised.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that when writing to a +RW disc, all the data required to play it on a "normal" player is added automatically (i.e. instead of have to go through the process of finalising in order to add it).

Can the DMR-EH50 record in RAW mpg2 format and not DVD/VOB?
Does anybody know which device can do that?
