My fave from Celebrity BB was Jack Dee.

BB1 - Anna - should've won and has remained the same ever since - really nice woman

BB2 - Brian - completely against my usual 'type' but genuine, hilarious, empathetic etc etc

BB3 - Kate (or K & Spencer if that were an option)

Is anyone reading these postings to see if there is a common element - do all Brian fans hate Alex, or would that just be me???
”

No, from reading the posts it seems that nearly everyone on this thread who liked Alex, also liked Brian, bar one person who liked Paul/Helen.

Emma555, are you going to check the posts and come up with any conclusions?

Alrightmate, if that was me who liked Alex, but liked Paul/Helen, I did like Brian, just liked Paul and Helen more. In case helps this important( ) research.

Alex for me - but I also liked Helen
Brian was OK - but overacted a bit IMO

My conclusion is that nearly all Alex fans also liked Anna in BB 1 and Brian in BB 2.

Sorry, I'm going to be awkward and blow your theory!

BB1 - Anna

BB2 - Brian

BB3 - Jonny

Celeb - Claire Sweeney

Overall - Brian, no one to touch him in my eyes! The only one out of all 3 series I cared passionately about.

Alex was ok, quite funny, but a bit too whiny for my taste.

yb, thats interesting. One of the things that I didn't like about Brian was his whining - yet I didn't mind it in Alex. I think that may have been because Brian was pretty lazy as well but I'm not sure. Theories welcome.

I was an avid watcher of E4 last year, taping as much as possible so as not to miss anything and I must admit the "lazy" references always amazed me. Brian may not have taken charge in the kitchen, or did as many chores as some of the others, but he more than made up for it in the way he entertained and supported the other housemates. I also don't remember him whining. He worried about people's perception of him in the outside world, his relationship with his parents etc, but for example he took all the criticism of his attitude to josh on the chin. Never once did he run whingeing to the other h/m's about the way Josh treated him, (the mind games, the constant sexual harrassment, etc etc ) despite the fact that Josh tried his best to turn all the other housemates against Brian.

Compare this to Alex's crtiticism of virtually all the other housemates, his assertion that the public would be crazy to vote for "any of these idiots", his reluctance to bury the hatchet with Jonny or anyone he'd had an argument with, his constant moaning, his cruel and unnecessary taunting of Jade, his ungracious and frankly pathetic speech on thursday night... I could go on, but having seen the treatment meted out to anyone who dares be critical of Alex I'll just say I liked him but he whined, and leave it at that!

I completely agree with the Alex sentiments expressed in the above post. All the points you made are reasons why I didn't like him. However, I can understand why people did: good looks, humour, for being a real character. I was really warming to him the last week, but completely turned against him again about 20 minutes ago when I read his interview. Comments like: "I think it's amazing that Jonny came second" and "when all the positive comments were coming over about him, I thought, well what are they seeing?" That was just low. And Alex fans were complaining yesterday about what Jonny said on his webchat!!!

However, I completely disagree about the Brian and Josh situation. Brian treated Josh with contempt for the first few weeks in the house. He was milking the fact that he was the only gay guy in the house, and then along came Josh, cool, good-looking and totally different to Brian. Brian then started acting like a spoilt child. But that was last year. Why worry about that?

Sorry Emma, I didn't mean to imply that Brian was blameless in the whole situation, (lord knows he was forever drawing people's attention to his own bad behaviour) just that there was a flip side to it which people tend to forget. As you say, its water under the bridge now, and they seem to get on well in the real world so who am I to harp on about it. I just used that as an example to make my point.

I should also mention that my original favourite in BB3 was Alison, but as she was evicted so early and i was away for her last week I don't feel able to judge whether or not my initial opinion of her was right, otherwise she would have been my choice from BB3. Still doesn't help with the Anna/BrianAlex theory, but never mind !

yb, not saying your wrong particularly - I am afraid my tired old brain can't remember details, like yours apparently can. Just a remembered impression that struck me as interesting because I didn't mind it in Alex but did in Brian.

Wish I was on the forum last year, as I don't remember the Josh/Brian situation being like that either. Personally, I liked Josh. At one time I thought Brian fancied him but maybe Josh just made Brian a bit insecure. Not sure. Would be interested to know anyone else's opinion. I know its ancient history - but some of us like history

yb, please say whatever you like about Alex, if you don't like any of the replies, just ignore them. Its all about interpretation isn't it. For me I liked Alex's speech, it was how he felt so I would rather he said that than pretend otherwise. I know he was a bit mean to Jade but they had a bit of a love/hate relationship and she had been rude to him first, so again, I didn't mind that. Not making up with Johnny, if you don't like someone - why pretend, you would be called two-faced and in my opinion, it is two-faced. I know we sometimes have to do these things and bite the bullet (esp at work) but if you were with someone 24/7 for 9 weeks in that sort of environment, I would guess that would be unworkable.

emma555, I liked Alex as a person, faults and all. I don't see anything wrong with his comments in OK. He didn't like Johnny, saw through him (as he feels) and wondered why he came 2nd (like some of us). I also feel that Johnny is entitled to his opinion and don't feel any need to moan about it.

Glad for your opinion on Brian and Josh - interesting - matched my own more. As I said to yb, some of us like ancient history

Thanks Fruitbat, as I said it's not that I didnt like Alex, I actually found him quite funny at times, but his "honest opinions" really did grate on me sometimes. I can imagine I wouldn't have liked some of the people in the house this year, but I like to think I would have been a little bit more tolerant.

Back to Brian. I liked Josh too, but the way he treated Brian confused the hell out of me. When Davina asked him during his eviction interview if he'd fancied Brian and he said "No not at all" I almost fell off the sofa! It made me wonder what sort of game he'd been playing, and his reasons for doing the things he did. This time last year I could have given you any number of examples as I remember being utterly furious at the time. However, my tired old brain isn't what it was either! All I know is I wasnt the only one to see it, and I have discussed it at length (and some would say ad nauseum! lol) on numerous other forums, so I know I didnt imagine it! I vividly remember throwing things at the TV and shouting at the other housemates "for god's sake turn round and see what he's doing NOW!!" How Brian managed to keep his sanity and his temper a lot of the time I'll never know. I'm really not trying to paint him as some sort of saint, but some people seem to have completely missed seeing the causes of his negativity towards Josh.

Thanks for your nice responses by the way, I haven't posted much on these forums other than in "fun" type topics because the aggression in some posts can be a tad intimidating!

cheers!

The only thing I will say about this is that if anyone thinks Josh is good looking they need their eyes testing. He was vile!

Favourite overall, Anna or Spencer. Probably Spencer. I am very shallow. And also up late at night when Spencer had the majority of his "best bits". (none of which were shown on C4, natch)
