The type of TV is irrelevant as any surround sound system will take its input direct from the dvd player and Sky Box (will normally be red and black plugs labelled audio output on the back). The cheapest solution is a 1 box surround sound system and there are many available for your budget (check Richer Sounds if you have 1 locally) but they usually have a DVD player built in and sometimes a tuner too! Crucially they have the multi channel decoder you need to achieve surround sound and include the speakers needed also. Look for one with an 'auxilliary' input for your sky box and VCR if you still use one. More inputs is more flexible. If you can get one with DTS decoding too then this gives a better surround effect with DTS coded dvds which many are now. Good luck!

If you are only going for a cheapo solution it may be better to get a TV which has surround sound built in... I know Tosh do offer a couple of models with this.

The sound quality will be fairly poor (as would a stand alone unit at £150) but it will meet your requirements
