Jonny's enigma
Alrightmate
31-07-2002
In the bedroom one night, P.J. informed Jonny that everyone in the house is not what they seem, to which Jonny replied (surprise) "What, people are playing tactically?"

"I've been trying to act genuine"

Question: In that statement, is it TRUE that he is genuine, or is it FALSE, he isn't?

I think it is true Jonny was trying to 'act genuine' - key word is 'act'.
The only problem was that Jonny could not 'act ' very well (in fact he did very little very well). Despite his best thespian efforts a lot of us could see right through him. As the weeks went by more and more people could see right through Jonny. Now that the show is over almost the entire British viewing public have become aware of Jonnys game plan.
To be fair there are many people out there, and in these forums, who are not bothered by this and defend Jonny by saying he was entertaining anyway.
However most people object to being takien for a ride in this way - as a result Jonny is not getting the commercial deals he so desires. Business, newspapers, ad companies etc have calculated that his unpopularity and his public image ( fakester, joker, never serious etc) will most likely damage there product or cause. So he is strictly 'hands off'

Having said all that, though I do not like him, I wish him well and hope he does make some money - a lot of others already have so why not him as well.

Yes, I see where you're coming from. Jonny really was unpopular with the public. I guess that must mean Alex was as well.
Eejay, you must remember, unpopular with you does not mean unpopular with everyone.

I agree that Jonny's game lasted a long time before peopel copped on, but I was amazed he finished second, the whole of Durham and every fireman and their dog must have been clocking up those calls also people think that he is settled in a job so is not as desperate for the commercial success as Alex/Kate or Jade, he was a BB fan who wanted to win BB but then go back to be a fireman which is what is happening.

I am not a fireman, I don't live in Co. Durham and I don't have a dog. What game do you speak of? I suppose Jonny was the only one who was involved in the game show.

It was just such a first class act - it took a lot of time and debate to expose the man. We are now reaping the rewards of our hard work.

Not another Jonny and he's acting thread....it's all getting a little bit BORING if you ask me.

How about St Alex and his now infamous 'dance to the cameras behind the door' which has been lauded to a pathetic degree.

I think you'll find old Sibley was playing to the cameras, but is he criticised, far from it. Some people go on as if it was the eighth wonder of the world.

Lets face it BB was a gameshow and all the HM's were guilty of being conscious of the cameras to varying degrees even if they and posters on this forum won't admit it.

At the end of the day Jonny and Kate were more popular than Alex, it's really as simple as that.

No, it's boring and predictable that you assume this was a Jonny dig thread. If I want to have a dig, then I will, but I'll use something more recent.

I only posted the thread in the early hours of this morning when a few of us were just killing time, and I thought I'd post something trivial.

The title of the thread is Jonny's conundrum, and that's exactly what it is, nothing more, nothing less. But you have to think laterally I suppose.

Answer: (If anyone cares)

If you think that it is TRUE that he is genuine from the statement, then obviously we know that you can't try to be, or act genuine, so that means it's a contrdiction in terms and that the answer is FALSE.

However, if you think that it is FALSE that he is being genuine from that statement, then that would force his actual statement to be TRUE in that he would be genuine in saying that he is trying to act genuine(but not actually being so)................so that in turn makes it false??????????????

Answer: No answer.

p.s. My own exaggerrated, twisted logic will only do me more harm than good.
