Faiint lines
simpso
22-01-2006
Hi im getting faint lines which are noticble accross my lcd screen when the screen is usually has a dark background with a light image say int he middle.

The faint lines scroll accross the screen in a diagnoal movement, then dissapear when the image gets lighter.

In other words black is not pure black on my lcd screen.

Im running on a s video lead with a 26" lcd screen.

Any help on what this is and/or how to fix it??

All flat panel screens have relatively poor contrast compared to CRT screens which can result in issues with dark scenes.... needless to say that typically the cheaper/ older the screen is generally the worse the issue is.

Firstly I would attempt to change the cable. RGB Scart gives a better picture than s.video anyway so as long as both your screen and your source supports this then it will be a worthwhile upgrade anyway.

If you only are getting them from a single source (ie not other things like DVD connected by a different method or the internal tuner) and RGB Scart isnt an option then buy a shielded S.Video cable - personally I would recommend either QED or IXOS as the brands to go for.

If it doesnt fix the problem then contact the manufacturer and they may be able to help
