I have a Sony RDR-HX510 DVD Recorder with Hard Drive which replaced my broken VCR. I have a Philips 28" TV.
I went through the set up with no problems, found all the channels etc but I'm finding that there are very thin (white?)horizontal lines on the picture when watching channels connected with the aerial (through the DVD Recorder) and therefore, these appear on the recordings too - less visible when the screen is filled with bright colours but really noticeable when I watch shows with darker colours and greys).
I see this interference mostly /more on the Sky channel, which comes through the aeriel from the digi-box in the lounge. I don't have the digibox in my room.
I did a search on the net and tried different things without success. It was originally on the top shelf of my TV cabinet. I then moved it to the bottom shelf, i.e. further away from the telly with no difference. It's currently on the floor as far away from the TV as possible, again with no difference. I did this as various things I read said it could be electrical interference from the TV or other electrical appliances.
There is no interference on the channels on my TV, with the DVD recorder on or off - just the picture from the aerial through the DVD recorder.
When I connect my Freeview box to Line 3 via Scart I have a perfect Freeview picture but obviously don't have the Sky box in my room to connect it via Scart, so I have to watch Sky through the aerial.
I had a perfect picture through my Philips VCR and when that broke I used my old JVC VCR until this recorder turned up and again there were no problems. I've just hooked up my JVC video again and there is no interference, so it can't be the connection - I assume. I exchanged the DVD Recorder for another one, same model, as I thought it was a fault with the original player but it obviously isn't. I'm at a loss about what it is or what to do. The interference is always there.
Any help as to what could be causing the problem or how to correct the problem would be gratefully appreciated. When the picture that came through my old VCR was better than my state of the art DVD recorder then I know I've got problems!
Thanks for any help.
