What is it with our hatred of Americans?

To play devil's advocate here - is pro-Americanism any less simplistic than anti-Americanism? They ain't all Dubya - but they ain't all Peter Falk either.*

It is a society which seems to find the God Hates Fags and 'intelligent design' movements to be perfectly rational phenomena and it has to be appropriate to criticise such matters without comments about 'small minds'. In such matters quite the opposite is the case.

*Peter Falk - great actor, artist and humanitarian. I was going to say J.K.Galbraith but I suddenly realised he was Canadian!!

We have just proven once again that we are much superior in intelligence to the Americans. We have really done ourselves proud by voting the greatest example of British intellectual talent to win tonight...

Rejoice fair brothers, the geniuses have spoken!

John Kenneth Galbraith is American.

Just because he was born in Canada does not make him any less American than Greg Rusedski is British, just because the latter was also born in Canada. Don't forget that he trained in Economics at the University of California at Berkeley, and then gained fame as an economist at Harvard University.
