It is terrible tripe. The plane crash has to be the wrost stoylinr since Sunset Beach had that dreadfull earthquake. The acting is below par and it still is the worst on TV.

What's a 'wrost stoylinr'?

Neighbours is great, doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't.

You can turn over you know.

Why on earth would they axe such a strong ratings performer? That would be madness.

You don't have to watch it. I think it's excellent and one of the best soaps on the telly at the moment. At least they have some moments where there all happy and not miserable like on soaps such as Corrie, and Enders.

It was going to be axed but now it's not.

Nope but its time Neighbours brought back some great oldies likes the Willis's, the Martins, Annalise, Sarah Beaumont, Anne & Bill, Amy & Lance, Henry Mitchell , Dorothy Burke (Mim)etc

I'd also like to see Dee return in an explosive comeback as remember her body was never found.

Neghbours ruled during the 80s and 90s, its only been the last 5 or so years thats saw its decline.

Neighbours rocks!

Admittedly the plane crash wasn't the best peice of tv ever - I could have done better using a pin-hole camera down at my local pool!

Haven't read every comment but I think Neighbours is Great! I've been watching since I was about 5 and probably won't stop watching it unless it is cancelled. So if you don't like it watch something else. If you don't like it how can you complain about the plane crash, If I didn't like it I wouldn't watch it.
Actually I do have one complaint about the Plane Crash that you didn't actually see it happen but apart from that I thought they did it quite well. Mind you how Conor made it to land with no Lifejacket on and in the dark I'll never know.

Well I've watched Neighbours for as long as I can remember and cannot imagine daytime TV without it. Long live Ramsay Street!

Neighbours
Everybody needs good neighbours
With a little understanding you can find the perfect blend

Neighbours
Should be there for one-another
That's when good neighbours become good friends

Not much more to say really.

If its 'rubbish' and 'dreadful' dont watch it, but calling for it to be axed is ridiculous. Obviously people who do like the show wouldnt want it to disappear-why rain on their parade? Or perhaps the thread was started just to be 'controversial'

Neighbours is great - it is never has claimed to be groundbreaking TV, its modest and down-to-earth, relying on entertaining storylines and characters rather than 'shock-horror' melodrama. The plane crash episodes were probably made for next to zero budget and, ok, the effects were naff, but the drama came not from the event itself but from the consequences and after-effects. The characterisation in Neighbours I find far more realistic than most other soaps and while the acting has its ups and downs, what do you expect for a programme made every single day with a relatively small cast? Sure, it has silly stories from time to time, but for me that's what makes it all the more endearing...

Neighbours is utter nonsense, but I love it. Anyway, they can do serious storylines well when they want to do.

Neighbours was the best soap ever in the 80s. Then the early 90s saw another great period when the show became quite dramatic. I think ever since 1995 when Peter Dodds took over as producer it went downhill. Suddenly the characters and storylines became really stupid. It has never been the same since i'm afraid. If they changed the producer after 10 years maybe it would be good again.

I'd miss it terribly if it was axed. Its light relief from EE and Corrie.

IMO it does comedy much better than EE, Corrie and Emmerdale. Anyway any bright ideas what the BBC could replace it with?

They have brought a fair few back recently, most of the time it's a case of actors moving on to new things. (I don't think Jesse Spencer would want to now after being paid buckets to star in House!).

I thought 2000-02 were quite weak, but then the new EP took over and things have really changed since then.

To think about 3 years ago we were shocked if a character even hinted my might have sex, now they're at it like rabbits.

Firstly.. Neighbours was never going to be axed it was just a lot of internet rubbish going around.. secondly.. Neighbours gets over 7 million viewers in the UK a day.. which means it out done Eastenders a few times last year and Emerrrrrzzzzzzzdale..... Neighbours is gr8 fun.. ok the crash wasn't that gr8 but they don't have as much money as the UK or USA for these things..... Come to think of it.. who remember Steve getting killed off in that car crash in Eastenders a few years back.. that explosion was rubbish.. NEIGHBOURS RULES.. its fun.. and it doesn't kill people off every 2 seconds or have the same rubbish storylines as all the other soaps.. don't like it? don't watch it!

And don't forget - they can't exactly do a plane crash with blood and guts on - with the time its on tv.
