Could be a BITCHFIGHT!

My money's on kickboxer Kate, Jade loks to be carrying too much weight and could be too slow for her.
”

Come closer and listen carefully........................IT'S A KID'S PROGRAMME!

It wouldn't be good for anyones career to continue this feud. Unless they have had advice that it would be. Their fame relies on creating personas for the paying public to relate to. Kate in particular needs the whiter than white role model image to clinch any TV deals. Jade seems to be revelling in adveristy (sorry I really am trying to cut down on negative Jade views. I am) in order to sell exclusives and keep media interest. As a long term policy Kate would be the winner but in the short term throwing media dirt makes more money...........

Are you joking. The World knows Brits as Whinging Poms. Where have you been living?
”

Yes, but there is the tradition of "the stiff upper lip", soldiering on and not complaining.
If you enter a competition, then complain about it, people will say "it was your decision, you cannot complain".
The last thing you want to see on TV is someone whingeing about how awful it all is.

The British complain, but do not tolerate public figures or celebrities who complain.

Relugus, see your point but, as I see it, the people in the House were supposed to be themselves and that includes moaning. Maybe if more people in the public eye had a moan (ie didn't act all the time) they would get used to it. Why shouldn't people in the public eye be allowed normal emotions. I am sure Princess Di was loved more than the rest of the Royals because she was a warm, normal, real person with faults like the rest of us.

Craig had the "my friend/family member is ill" card, and won largely on that basis (the Nasty Nick thing helped as well), as well as tabloid support.”

You do realise that Craig never mentioned that until he won the thing, yes? Kinda invalidates your entire argument.

When I read all this 'stiff upper lip' crap I'm glad I always describe myself as a Scot and Not British. if everyone was a bit more honest about their emotions (good or bad) the world would be a better place.

intj, too true - stiff upper lip - makes you think of the Victorians? We like people who are warm (as per my post above)

If everyone were honest about their emotions, there would be even more violence and conflict in this world. "Bad" emotions are often extremely nasty, and are most likely best kept to oneself.

There's a balance human beings have to strike between being too self-controlled and not being in control at all.
(Which would you prefer: A Prime Minister who makes cold, logical decisions, or one who "goes off on one" at the slightest provocation?).

A great deal of the violence inthis world occurs when the safety valve of pent up emotion blows. Women in general are much more honest about owning their own emtions than men who are responsible for the majority of violent crimes in society and most of the conflict in the world is begun by cold and calculating politicians.

intj, this makes sense to me.

Relugus, obviously there has to be some sort of balance - I'm not advocating we punch everyone that annoys us but I think if we talk to a third party about the person who annoyed us, then this allows us to get rid of the emotion. People who suppress their emotions - are often the ones who end up having breakdowns or taking their emotions out on the wrong person (battered wifes, their kids etc).

Yes, I want a PM making decisions on a logical basis - I think in the workplace we do have to make more of an effort to keep in emotions. Afterall, we are being paid and we have a duty to our employers. But there is a great deal of difference in having a whinge ala Alex (and me ) and going around "smashing people in the face" for example.

Everybody peeps,

Actually what I am doing here is letting off some of the steam that I have built up over the day - I have 4 kids and they have been fighting all day and I am not well with sinus probs. When we have kids we really do have to check our emotions - and find some other way of letting them out.

drone, drone, moan, moan, whine, whine, whinge, whinge, - aah thats better

He may not have mentioned it, but it was splashed all over the tabloids, before the final vote.
