Can t make much sense of you post but to answer the question --------- yes, most people conect the scart output of a FV box to their TV (or DVDR) and then set the TV to an AV channel.
You dont have to use the RF out of the FV box for connecting to the TV. Rgds, Scorp |

Thanks There should be three plugs, Audio Left, Audio Right and Video, White, Red and Yellow plugs respectively (white may sometimes be replaced by black). You need to make sure you plug each plug into the same coloured socket on both ends. If the TV sockets are only white/black and red then they are audio (probably outputs as well) - 99.999999% of AV equipment manufacturers adhere to the white/black/red = audio, yellow = video colour codes. You could have the wrong type of SCART adaptor. SCART carries audio and video in two directions, into and out of the device it is plugged into. Sounds as if you have an INPUT adaptor which is trying to feed signal into the Freeview box. What you require is an OUTPUT adaptor. Or if there is an IN-OUT switch on the adaptor you've got it set to IN; in which case just set it to OUT. An alternative is that the connections on the TV are actually OUTPUTs and not INPUTs (though less likely than the wrong SCART adaptor). Another possibility is that the Freeview box is set to RGB video mode. The SCART adaptor will most likely only do Composite and maybe S-Video (if it only has phono plugs then it is Composite only). In theory the box should be able to output RGB and Composite at the same time but it is just possible that your's only does one video mode at a time. Changing video mode though could be a bit of a problem if you can't see the menus on the box......

your scart block is probable sending the signals the wrong way, they only go one way unless your's has a switch to chose from in and out?

Hooked up right, it should work - like the PlayStation 2 connectors.

It sounds like something is connected wrongly - can you carefully describe all the connections and kit in use.

Have you checked the menus on you box too see if there is a RGB/CVBS/SVideo option.
I think the Tompson DTI2300 required this option to be set. AdamS. |

'sounds like your using ones you have got with a camcorder or games console that wont work, you'll need to buy one that sends signals from scart to phono'
Correct Cheers |
