At last! Can't wait to hear his mad dulcet tones. Be interesting to see what his recollections are as sometimes Tom has a tendency not to remember things until he is prompted!

I'm delighted that 'Inferno' is coming out, as it's my favourite Pertwee story.

The extras on both these stories sound excellent - another house point or 'Blue Peter' badge to the restoration team!

Any rumours on the other 2006 releases? I'd say 'Kinda' for Davison and possibly 'Attack of the Cybermen' for Colin Baker.

It's hard to say; comms for keeper of traken and state of decay have been in the bag for years and these have yet to see the light of day. Baker recorded one for hand of fear the same day he did genesis too. There have been rumours about survival, but really rumours are all we have to go on until a press release comes out.

Think we all have our personal wish lists for what we would like to see released on DVD....alas a lot of stuff I would like to see commentaries on the actors involved are no longer with us.

Sad but true- it's known there is a com done for traken because the restoration team said Anthony Ainley did it shortly before he died.

But of course, coms are no real guide as to when something will be released- Tom Baker lives in the south of france. Katy Manning (jo grant) lives in Australia. It's often a case of getting them to do many when they're around the bbc studios in london. I think I'd be right in saying one has been done for terror of the autons as well.

I wonder how the powers that be at the commercial arm of the BBC decide what is going to be released?

I couldn't claim to know, but steve roberts (dude in charge of these things) did say to me to the OG that they don't wish to release all the classics 1st, as that would just leave the crap no one would buy- after I criticised him regarding rumours about Attack of the cybermen. (My least favourite who story.)

I just wish they would release them as boxsets season by season for the collectors as they did with the new series and they can still issue the stories individually, minus the extras, for those who are not bothered. Both sold well last time.

not sure they would be able to persuade Tom to do a commentary with Matthew Waterhouse though! would hope Janet Fielding would considering it is her first story.

the problem is if they leave it too long most of the interesting people who could do a commentary might get called to the great TV heaven in the sky and we will be left with boring old Adric (Matthew) waffling on.

This may have no baring on anything, however in 2003 DW magazine (issue 332) did a poll of the top 40 stories people wanted to see on dvd. Since then 7 of the top 8 choices have been released- or are about to be- which may suggest the poll had some influence on the release timetable. The ones on the poll yet to be released, in order of the fans preference to see them, were:

1. The Seeds of Doom
2. Logopolis
3. The Daemons
4. The Deadly Assassin
5. The Sea Devils
6. The War Games
7. The Time Warrior
8. The Trial of a TimeLord
9. Day of the Daleks
10. Terror of the Autons
11. Planet of the Spiders
12. Terror of the Zygons
13. The Brain of Morbius
14. The Masque of Mandragora
15. Kinda
16. Robot
17. The Chase
18. Castrovalva
19. The War Machines
20. The Horns of Nimon
21. Survival
22. Mawdryn Undead

But who can say. I doubt we will get another William Hartnell for a while, seeing as we've just had 4 of his in quick succession. And yes, there are people like me who really do like Nimon. Sorry if you can't understand. Well actually, I'm not.

The stories are great and the extras sound fantastic - far better than the sub-standard offerings we had on City of Death. That was a real disapointment and the only DW disc where I haven't watched the extra features all the way through.

This sounds like they're back on track, though.

Earthshock is an excellent DVD - Good commentary with all the TARDIS crew and a great documentary. I would buy a 3 disc set with Traken, Logopolis and Castrovalva definately. Lets hope they pull their fingers out.
