Landline Providers
Apart from BT, NTL, Toucan, Onetel, Bulldog and Talk Talk what other providers offer line rental and what are their prices?
Everytime I put in linerental all i get are 1000s of links for Bt I am talking about companies I can pay line rental to and not the indirect services like a box or access number. |

I wouldn't bother.
BT is best for your line rental. Others work out dearer and block access to cheap calls providers. Example BT line rental with 1571 and caller display (free via www.bt.com/btprivacy) £11/month. With TalkTalk £12.49. Only BT have to allow you to use low cost carriers. So by not using BT for your landline you will be restricted to the higher costs. Your best choice is BT for line rental and then use a combination of CPS and indirect carriers. This is the only way you will be saving anything substantial. If you don't need caller display and 1571 and you only want to save a few pennies each month instead of several pounds then having line rental with someone may do, but I can't see the point in the hassle for just a few pence. |

Tiscali offer a free weekend extra service with no monthly fee. You can phone for up to an hour at weekend for no cost and if you going to be longer than that you can put down the phone and phone again for another hour at no cost. They do offer other phone packages at a monthly cost. You keep BT for line rental. There billing is ok I guess but there customer service is not 100%. I find it to be only 95% at best.

No point in just free weekend calls when with Primus 2 for no monthly fee you can get free evening AND weekend calls, line rental again remains with BT which is a bonus.
Then use 1899/18185 for non-free calls. |

http://www.thephone.coop/ is another good one, Basic Line Rental is £10.50 they also do many Broadband & Phone bundles.
Top UK based customers services and they are not for profit org. no fat cats to payout, the cost of calls fall all the time as they grow this enables them to drop the prices more. One of the good things if you join them you become a member, share holder kind of thing and you have say on how the service is run. |

Yes but for people who have caller display they work out dearer, and also because your line rental isn't with BT they can and possibly do block access to 1899 and 18185, so if you use the phone during the day can work out dearer too.

BT Telewest NTL Wight Cable Kingston Comms (Kingston-Upon-Hull only) Although it can be used as a CPS provider on a BT line.) |
