Hi
Im thinking of getting a new tv Ive seen an lcd tv 212 i THINK the make was techwood or something 269 squid it seemed a great pic but theres only 6 months guarentee with it is there such a thing as a monitor with a tv tuner or would that automaticlally become an lcd tv ? are these lcd tvs reliable ? I saw a 21 inch flat screen hitachi tv for 210 squid but that would include a 5 year cover I could also get my comp in to surf web I don t know whether to forget lcd and go for the hitachi flat screen tv thanks for any comments timbo |

The difference between a "screen" and a "tv" is the fact that a TV has a built in tuner (and speakers) where as a "screen" doesnt have a tuner (and may not have speakers)
They are as reliable as any other format however remember that at the £200 mark for LCD you are really scraping the bottom of the barrel where as for CRT you are in the low/middle range (for 21") so you arent really comparing like to like. LCDs can have some issues (like motion bluring) and typically these things are worst on the cheaper units. |

I prefer to get a PC monitor plus TV tuner box if I'm going to be using a TV for computer use as well.
The picture quality is just as good on the TV side, the solution is generally cheaper for the smaller screens and the monitor side is of course much more usable than a TV with VGA input. You can also get the monitor of your choice from a top brand rather than investing in a TV from an unknown manufacturer. |
