What have we learnt from BB3?
Scarptor

Well, I learnt how people interact with each other both outside and inside the house. I learnt how people are so different in their perception of other people. This forum for one has opened my eyes on others viewpoints. Everyone is different yes, but how each individual is perceived I find quite interesting. What I see others view differently. e.g. Adele and Alex. Adele was able to show Alex things about others that he would perhaps never see until it's too late.

The reaction for viewers as astonished me. I find I'm wary around people too. I sometimes wonder how others view me. As I said people's perception is so different and that's what makes the world. However, living with these different perceptions is the hardest part as we see in the BB House. Look at it on a wider scale like the Town, Country, World we live in today....... Interesting yes. BB was just the tip of the Iceberg. Was it really a game show?

Scarptor, ha I'm tracking you now Not really, you have asked another interesting question (and I really need some brain exercise ).

To me, it wasn't a game show, I watched it out of interest as to how people interact with each other. I am interested in psychology and find people fascinating. I was, stupidly, surprised, therefore, that for many, it was a game show, pure and simple.

For me, this year, the most interesting thing I have learned from BB is how much manipulation goes on of tv. I have been quite cynical about what I read in the papers for ages but, seeing, it on BB has taken it to a new level. Its amazing how they can make people see what they want them to. Although, as I was saying about Johnny earlier on in the series - they can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. However, they don't need to fool everyone just the majority. I am not saying, here, that my view of BB was the correct one (ie I liked Alex and Jade and not Johnny and Kate), just that I really became aware of how much media manipulation was going on. Jade and the press was another example of this media manipulation.

I have found being on the forum fascinating. It is wonderful to get so many different views of people, interesting how passionate people get about their fav HM (people we don't know personally but feel that we do). Some posters have made be mad, some sad, but others have made me feel happy. To know that others are sharing your views is comforting - makes you feel you are not alone in your perceptions.

As I have rambled on again I will now shut up

I've learned how quickly a fickle publiccan change it's mind on something and how powerful editing can be. Politicians beware.

Manipulation was highlighted to me too. Especially with the papers.... but this is nothing new where the tabloid press is concerned

It's the short memories, I found interesting. People do forget easily. ...but is it due to the fact they just want to put things behind them and move on?

ontwofronts, no we weren't supposed to learn from it - but I am sure that we all did - whether consciously or subconsciously. For the majority, I am sure, it was just a gameshow but people who come on the forum are obviously more interested in BB than the casual C4 watchers - for whom, it is just a game show

I have learnt that some people refuse to give a person a second chance.
I have learnt that arrogance and bullishness are alive and well.
I have learnt that if you are stupid but talk with a posh accent you are forgiven more quickly for your stupidity than if you have a regional accent.
I have learnt that if you make a mistake some people will never accept that you are trying to redeem yourself.
I have learnt that some people who have never set foot in the BB house can consider themselves an expert on how people should react and behave whilst in there.
I have learnt that some people actually believe what is written in the sun/mirror/news of the world.
I have learnt that if conflict is engineered it will flourish and spread.
I have learnt how to use the ignore button on DS forums.

2 things:

That everyone is a psychologist

That it's not the viewers who decide who gets evicted and who wins, so save your money in next years BB.

I wonder if we should be viewing political elections the same way.

...Another thing is that because people believe everything they view it reminds me that TV is not always a medium you should rely on. Just by the way these shows have been edited to mislead your way of thinking..

I've learned a lot about the tabloids, their agendas and how they work, I've learned that many people confuse lack of opportunity and education with stupidity or having a low IQ. I can clearly define what is bitching and what is bullying and why people often confuse the two. I'm happy to say BB3 has shattered a few preconceptions of mine generally and has really opened my eyes to the whole process of media manipulation. BB3 has taught me quite a lot, really!
