By the way, I get mine from play.com. The new talking heads cd/dvd-a are brilliant. They're filed under cd though on play's website. As are some sa-cds, especially the dual format cd/sa-cds.

Have a look here for what's on offer!
http://www.sa-cd.net/home It lists everything that's been put to SACD so far. According to tastes I would recommend SACD's "Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms", "Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon" and on DVDA "Tubular bells". There are many others but these give a pretty good demo of what is good about these formats. |

DVD Audio is all but extinct.
The format is a total failure and the labels are looking at some way of keeping the interest there. SACD was almost dead at birth too,as early SACD would not play on standard cd players. But they soon moved to dual layer discs that have full resolution audio on one layer and standard cd audio on another to enable standard playback. But even though I have a superb home cinema setup I found no improvement(to the ear,not on paper) with the Michael Jackson SACD,perhaps because it was pointlessly still in stereo.I assumed it would be in 5.1,and I will not buy any stereo SACD as there is no discernible improvement. Now discs Like the reissued War of the Worlds and Dark Side of the Moon are another matter. These are excellent. However,I was listening to 5.1 on cd years ago thanks to DTS CD's,and these sound every bit as good as SACD,although the DTS cd's don't play in standard CD players |

Can you put a DVDA disc into a normal DVD player?

In order to save myself lots of typing please refer to URL below.
http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=n...e=dvdaq&r=DVDA There are numerous other places to get information from. I find that Play.com and Amazon are both very good when it comes to music and DVD/SACD/Dual discs or whatever else you are interested in that area. |
