Hi, our big tv has justy 'died'. There is sound coming through fine, but there is either no picture, or snow. The tv's on-screen menus appear fine.

There are no loose cables, these have all been checked, and the scart leads swapped around to see if it made a difference.

There is a signal coming from the aerial, as this has been tested on an ancient 14" tv.


Its only just outside the warranty period, does anyone have any suggestions for what may be wrong, and how to fix it(if not too risky).

Or should we take it to a tv repair shop?

As the on-screen menus appear then most of the TV is working properly.
Check the brightness and contrast controls, if it has lost its memory then they could be set to minimum.
Otherwise it could be a fault with the input signal switching circuit.
