yes - she never said those words!
here is an extract from the article for those who haven't seen it:

She (Kate) can't yet fathom why anyone would want to put the worst interpretation on anything she says or does, or want to believe that she's horrible and vain. Her antics with Alex in the pool, in the Jacuzzi, under the covers with a luminous van, were not as naughty as far as she was concerned becuase she had no naughtiness in mind and she thinks it silly that anyone might see it differently. He remains 'gorgeous' and that is the only adjective she will use for him. Unusually for a Big Brother contestant, Kate would rather say nothing if she can't say something kind, so you are left to imagine just how interesting she thinks Alex is beyond his looks.

'I did really fancy Spencer', she admits, 'but sometimes I just didn't know how to take him. I was left wondering why he was being so rude to me all the time but maybe it was like a teenage thing - you know, when a boy keeps hitting a girl and it takes her a while to work out that he does it because he really likes her.

'I never really got it out him whether he fancied me but there was that night when he asked me for a snog. I said we could do it on the outside but not in the house. I did not want to do it for the cameras. I've got his number now and I'd really like to meet him for a coffee and a proper chat. As for romance, not just now. The only people I need around me at the moment while I get used to what's going on are my friends and my family. I don't need to get involved with someone just now'

“To be honest, I think Alex is very eager to put the whole BB experience behind him and that includes most of the HMs. His after dinner speech on the their last night was very telling, it was Alex being the most honest he's ever been in the house. The fact that he's taken himself off to Germany after doing only ONE t.v. appearance and apparently only one 'official' magazine interview says it all really. The whole experience shook him up and forced him to evaluate his psyche and like he said, somethings about himself he didn't like at all. He's gone off to be with the people who know and understand him best, (and lets be honest, no one got Alex in the house, not even Adele) to a place he loves and a job he's quite keen to get back to. The British media or for that matter the British public speculating about a romance between him and anybody is pointless.
He fancied Kate, so what? She's a good-looking girl and she was there for nine weeks when lets face it her competition wasn't exactly stiff. How does that translate into deeper feelings of undying love? Fancying and appreciating someone's attractiveness and your response to that is entirely different to seeing yourself with that person having a good time just being together. If Alex can distance himself from a romance with Adele of all people, why one earth people think he's even going to approach Kate again is beyond me. Sometimes people really do mean what they say and maybe other people should stop trying to read so much into what are pretty meaningless things. The truth is good-looking people gravitate towards each other. What happens AFTER that gravitation is the real issue. For Kate and Spencer, they genuinely get along really well and if romance is on the cards well good for them. For Kate and Alex, alcohol was needed most of the time and frankly me thinks skincare and Japan are topics that aren't going to last them a lifetime of conversation.”

Alex is doing the smart thing, getting away from all the media hype until Jade and Kate have had their saturation in the press and media. He will then probably re-emerge, the face of Brylcreme and associated with that product rather than the BB thing which I'm not too sure he is that comfortable with.

Brian did a similar thing last year, keeping out of the limelight and bouncing back months later with the media wanting to know about him. I hope it works out for Alex as out of all the HM's he is the one that doesn't really want the famous for 15 minutes stuff and I doubt he will do the film premiere and opening of an envelope saga either. As for the Kate situation.....well he had so many issues with her in the house what makes anyone think that he would want to persue a relationship with her, there is a possibly a mutual physical attraction but personality wise it would be a mine field.

the title of this post is from the Alex interview with OK mag.

Extract of relevant paragraph from the interview:

'Did You Fancy Kate?
In the beginning, yes. I found her the most attractive girl of the lot. Then Sandy described us as a pride of lions and she'd had everybody's cubs. She flirted with Lee, then PJ a little bit, then Spencer....
She even told BB she thought I was gay because I wasn't interested in her. Well, I'm sorry, Kate, but you're a flirt.'

Interesting to note that Alex makes a DIRECT comment TO Kate,
in the interview.

The fact that Alex went overboard in taking Sandy's advice and
looked around to see what Sandy meant, before risking getting involved in his fancying of Kate, by citing PJ and the others almost like past conquests in a real life situation, and then deciding that she was not the girl for him even inside the BB house(!) makes it look like Alex was treating the situation as if
they were all on the outside, and he was interacting with his fancying of Kate, in the real world! he was! he took it for real
entirely for real, right at the beginning, instead of just applying a bit of humor to the situation, and letting it ride.

Maybe he said it directly to her as he knows he is not going to bother speaking to her directly.

Kate was not lying when she said she did not want to be screened kissing, which is proved when she kissed Alex with
her hands hiding their lips (and her tongue). Which then begs the question,
why did she not do the same for Spencer, instead she told him that he would have to wait till they got outside.

The thing is she did exactly the same thing with Spencer. She snogged him under a St.Georges flag. For some reason this wasn't shown on Ch.4 presumably because they wanted to concentrate on PJ and Jade.

She snogged Spanky under the flag. Beside Kate kissed Alex during the spin the bottle game.

she kissed him under a flag?

so she is in denial against all the clips that have not been shown on channel 4 and BBLB then?

I mean, if she is saying in an interview that she told Spanky
she would snog him outside the house , then is she saying this because she has noticed it ( the flag kiss)is not on the roundups, or was she too drunk and she can't remember it now?

whats going on?

I don't know if you're talking with regards to who fancied who.

I remember Kate declaring Alex as the bloke in there she would like to get naked with, hiding under a cushion and blushing.

A few days later the night before Sunita was due to leave, Kate, Alison and Sunita were in the girls bedroom. Kate said she wishes she didn't say Alex after all as she's beginning to like Spanky even though he is a little bigger than she likes her blokes. She found Alex effeminate and said he's in touch with his feminine side. Sunita said she wishes he would get in touch with his masculine side more. I think Kate also said the effect was ruined the minute he opened his mouth. So from there on it was Spanky and Kate. Spanky admitted later on Kate gave him 'tingles'.This was before weegate and Sandy's analogy of the pride of lions. Obviously later on they went onto snog and slept naked together under the sheets (which C4 didn't show).

I think Kate and Alex happened later because she did fancy him physically and it was a case of proving that despite their disputes, she could still get a reaction from him. Like somebody on this forum said Kate just liked being fancied period.

Her and Spencer kissed under the flag and probably in the double bed the night Alison left... I'll never understand why these moments weren't shown. The night they kissed under the flag was the first time Spencers guard slipped a little and it looked like he genuinely did like her.

<<<<<<<<Do you know what happened in the first seven days of BB3? I did not see the first week.>>>>>>>>>>

I think it went a little something like this:

1. Everyone eyes everyone up. As per normal.
2. Kate admits in a game of truth or dare that she fancies Alex. Alex smiles warmly and the feeling is apparently mutual. Lee sulks in the corner as he secretly fancies Kate (he admits this to Sophie in week ). PJ, who asked the question, is clearly disappointed. The other girls look on.
3.While everyone is still trying to figure out Spencer, he and Kate share a kick-boxing session. Everyone, (and I mean EVERYONE) is watching. Sparks fly. The kick-boxing session ends. A mere ten minutes later, Lee asks Spencer if he fancies Kate. Spencer shrugs nonchalantly. In the bedroom, Lynne mentions to Kate that she thinks Spencer fancies her. Kate doesn't think so. Later on that evening, Alex tells Sandy in the boys' bedroom that he can tell that Spencer is 'hungry for Kate'.
4.Lee tells Alex that Kate is doing 'the rounds with the boys' to gain favour and avoid future nominations. Alex is aghast to learn 'the truth'. He retreats to Sandy's corner. Meanwhile Jade is trying to get PJ, Spencer and Jonny to confess who they fancy. She repeatedly asks Spencer is he fancies Kate. Lee realises that Adele is actually pretty good-looking. Alison confesses to Kate that she thinks Alex is 'dead gorgeous'.
5. Lynne is evicted and everyone is shocked. Lee and Adele retreat together and Kate shaves Spencer. EVERYONE watches again. Sandy starts digging at Kate to Alex.

I think, with the exception of a few things my 'friend' didn't tape, this pretty much summed up the relationship dynamic in the first week. Oh, the glory days!!!!!

OK I don't want to slag her off TOO much, but I think she is prone to porky pies. Tim, PJ and Jonny asked her outright if she played FTV with Alex one night. She said no with a straight face. The next morning on RISE TV a presenter said she was a liar and Sophie was a guest. Although Sophie tried to defend Kate where she could, she couldn't understand why Kate lied about it.

The first night after they played it she went outside and relayed their conversation to Jonny and PJ. She claimed he wanted to get some things of his chest and she was there to listen. It was quite sarky the way she said it, she inferred he was going on and on, and she thought 'Alright Alex!' She made him look like a plum within seconds after playing FTV. These are the things his friends or whoever have probably seen and relayed to him. It's got sod all to do with Sandy, Tim or Adele.

Absolutely. I stayed up all night waiting for the England v Nigeria game and it was about 5 am. I remember him saying to her 'I think you forget where we are' and she kissed his hand. There was alot emotion between them at that moment.

I agree with gazza71, why on earth they didn't show us this is beyond me. Another incident they didn't bother with was the night Alex 'stole' Kate's duvet and she climbed into bed with Spencer. They were in bed till almost noon, totally wrapped around each other and Channel 4 didn't even show us a silent clip or anything. Thank God for E4 or I would have totally missed that little gem. Instead on that day's Channel 4 show, we saw Alex and Sandy by the chickens. Hell, I know what I would have rather been watching!!

"I think Kate and Alex happened later because she did fancy him physically and it was a case of proving that despite their disputes, she could still get a reaction from him. Like somebody on this forum said Kate just liked being fancied period."

I agree with this, and it's the reason why I always found Kate a lot more interesting to watch than some of the others. Everyone has faults, and we all try to hide them from others, but she put the others to shame when it came to holding it all in. There was a lot more to her than we saw, and I just found it interesting to see some of these little things about her come through every now and then. A bit like Spencer actually.

I think Alex's need for something to happen with Kate can be summed up with his diary room confession of the women he wants always being slightly out of his reach. Kate going off him, and on to Spencer must have got under his skin. His sly little grin, when she walked off after trying to confront him about their issues... It was clear then that he had been quite hurt.

I think it makes him feel better to label her a flirt and say she flirted with Lee and PJ as well as him and Spencer. The truth is, she just went completely off Alex because of his anal ways in the first two weeks, and he couldn't handle that.

I never saw her flirt with Lee, that was something Lee made up to boost his own ego, and although she did admit to liking PJ later on, she barely even spoke to him the first few weeks, so how he can come out with the comment "She flirted with Lee, PJ and THEN Spencer" is beyond me. Certainly she never gave the impression that she fancied anyone in that house as much as she did Spencer. I've never seen a girl throw herself at a guy like that in my life.

Not only that, but when Jonny challenged her about it and asked her (paraphrasing here) "so after the show when we see the footage we wont see you playing FTV?" and she replied to him something like "Yes, and you will see that I am telling the truth". and she was NOT joking when saying this!! GOSH, I would love to see Jonny's face now when he sees the video of his sidekick mate Katie have lied convincingly to him.

She lied even to Davina during her final-day interview about her FTV with Adele and Alex, until Davina had to show her some photoshoots from a newspaper then Kate went red and backpaddled. I think Kate thinks that the cameras didn't pick up everything in the house. When she will see the footages she will realise the lied she has been spooting.

When put under pressure, your gut reaction can sometimes be to not give anything away. Jade was asking Alex what was going at the same time, and he said nothing as well.

Certainly Jonny and PJ thought a lot more was going on than was. This was down to Tim, like the immature child he really was, telling the others that it was a lot hotter between them than it clearly was... For instance, the night they played it when he was pretending to be asleep, they stopped after two goes and ended up having the big conversation. Channel 4 of course, left it with Alex's head under her covers, and then informed us on the next show that he had told her what others had been saying. Alex telling Kate was far more significant to the whole show, than FTV was that night.

That's an interesting analysis about her holding her faults in, because you've tapped into why I didn't like her. I made the comment elsewhere it's almost impossible to cite incidents as to why she is not all that she seems because I believe her acting was seamless in there. That is why I favour Jade over Kate as I felt you saw the real person behind a carefully constructed persona. However nasty some of those sides were it was real. I think Kate secretely enjoyed conflicts and enjoyed certain people been made a fool of in there.

I think that's the reason she's taken a bit of a battering from Jade and Alex in the press because they've seen it.

This is just how I interperated things in there.

I think the night in question, Alex was waving the van around but they didn't really "play" with it! (God that sounds so silly!), it was one of those nights where Kare said she didn't really want to play as people were getting the wrong idea.
Alex then had a heart to haert with her and told her everything that Jade had been saying etc. Given all the stuff that went on that night, and how upset she was after the things Alex had told her, she probably thought so little of the FTV incident, she didn't mention it. I don't remeber the conversation she had with Jonny about it though.....maybe I'm thinking of a different night.

The thing with FTV is, I think, being blown out of proportion. Kate and Alex have both said that they only did "naughty" things with the van once(the time with Adele), the other times they were just messing about (Alex said in his OK interview it was to "wind up Jade") .
The night that Jonny, PJ and Tim asked her if anything was going on with her and Alex and mentioned FTV freaked her out. To her (and him) it was just a silly game, "their" game, nothing more. I think it began to have far more significance (to the others at least) than Kate wanted.

Alex didn't tell Jade because he wasn't in a good term with her! Kate was supposedly talking with her mates Jonny and PJ, and no she was not under pressure, and even if she was that night, then there were plainty of other times when she could have explained it to Jonny!

She clearly HAS seen the footage, which explains today's headline in the Express, doesn't it? Her PR folks will have explained this to her a couple of days ago and set up the OK/Express stuff as a result. She now has to look like she DID like Alex in a sort of fun-physical way (which is probably true) and needs to debunk the fuss asap, and continue emphasising Spencer for good story mileage while keeping her nice-girl-nextdoor tag.
As to all the other stuff on these threads about will they, won't they kind of crap - a tad obsessive isn't it? They all fancied each other in that stupid house because they had cabin-fever, were living in a shrunken world with no real-life stimuli. All quite normal in view of the ABnormal circumstances they were living in.
My only (sizeable) qualm with Kate is that she is emotionally detached as a character and knew how to use her sexuality in a way that was canny gamesmanship but humanly unpleasant. She'll go far. I read a comparison of her elsewhere to the Nicole Kidman character in 'To Die For' - spot on I think. All this mushy-love romance stuff is pure fantasy-bollox. Alex may have liked her in the house (I think he did, he was more HONEST to her on the night she relayed EVERYTHING he told her, post FTV-playing, than at any other time - but he was right to stay suspicious). Now he is back in the real world he doesn't have to give a stuff about Kate Lawler or any other of the phony pratts he was incarcerated with. Good luck to him. Also hope that Spencer, even though he is more a wannabe, sadly, than I first imagined, sees sense and runs to the hills - good luck to him too. Anyway, I always thought that Spencer was best-matched with Sunita ....

"However nasty some of those sides were it was real. I think Kate secretely enjoyed conflicts and enjoyed certain people been made a fool of in there."

I really don't think she's that vindictive. I think going on a show like that, you've got to consider yourself, your family and your friends and how you/they may be effected by how you come across. You've got to hold things back in that house for these reasons as well it just making it so much easier for other people. Whilst I understand people being more inspired by the likes of Jade and Alex, I found it very admirable that someone could have such an amazing temperament in that house, whilst others seemed to be completely cracking up.

To be honest, I was completely indifferent to Kate the first two weeks. Whilst Alison had a bit more to her, Kate seemed so one dimensional it was untrue. Only when the divide came up did I find a genuinely likeable person in her, and I think this is where she really scored the most points and won people over. She just seemed so much more real after that.

"I think that's the reason she's taken a bit of a battering from Jade and Alex in the press because they've seen it."

Yeah, but Jade seemed to take an almost instant dislike to her, and I really believe that was down to most of the guys agreeing that she was the most attractive girl in there. It was clear to all how much Jade liked Spencer, and yet Kate was the one who got the closest to him in a physical way, and her reaction to PJ saying he wanted to dance with Kate says it all.

As for Alex, I'm actually surprised at how nice he's been about Kate. He said that in a one to one conversation, she was great... He certainly hasn't given her a battering. As for Jade, that was clearly just the press trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

"This is just how I interperated things in there"

Sure, you're not alone, but I think it's better to give people the benefit of the doubt. Anyone would think she was some kind of devil woman if you read some peoples posts about her here. I just think she was a nice girl, with some issues when it came to wanting certain men to acknowledge her.

They all have faults, and some showed them more so than others, and whilst they quite self rightiously talk about how they've shown all sides to themselves, they forget the hurt they caused certain people by showing those sides. To me, the measure of a person is knowing your faults, but controlling them. If more people were able to control their bad sides, it would be a better world.

”

Good points about holding faults in and controlling them - but I still think it was with a manipulative slant, going into the diary room and blubbing with snot down her nose everytime something did not go her way. There was another forum I used to be on where she would be slated for flirting with Spanky. As far as I was concerned she fancied him, where was the harm? But like the post said above yours she manipulated her way to the prize by flirting so it was as if nothing was ever real with her. I've seen HM's past and present being slated for the same behaviour as her. I think the reason people slag her off to the degree they do is because three years on people are a little sick of being manipulated courtesy of how Endemol and BB want things to go, and some people don't quite buy into this 'geezer bird /girl next door image' and it's sort of a reaction against that.
