Again, he is arrested and misses a gig that 2000 fans had paid to see because he such an idiot that he can't stay off his beloved drugs. This man is beyond help and we should just leave him and let him does his thing. He has an awful voice to start with, but I'm not here to berate his music.

It's his behaviour, and I am fed up of opening the paper and seeing him smacked off his tits. Be gone.

Have to agree, I just have no feelings of sympathy for him whatsoever. What a waster (intentional pun).

Who are the clowns that pay money to buy gig tickets???? He must have a less than 50% turn up rate at his gigs and even if I liked the music ( which I don't) I still wouldn't bother on that basis.

I think he's going to jail for a long time. Still I'm sure he'll base his next album on his time inside.

Could have been alot more successfull, but he's slowly wrecking his career to the point where i'd imagine some of his fans are loosing any respect they had for him.

I'm not very up-to-date with recent music, but all I know about Pete D is that he's got a drug problem. I've never heard any of his music which is strange as he is apparently SO famous. He's not the first music-type person to get stoned - what's the big deal??? Will someone PLEASE explain to me why he is constantly on the news????

He used to go out with Kate Moss. The tabloids are always on the hunt for fodder for their baying moronic readership.

FWIW

1/ PD is far from being a moron

2/ He's a talented song writer and
charismatic performer who's produced
some very good music (as well as a lot
of utter crap)

3/ He's a troubled human being and a drug addict,
which means he's prone to irrational and
self-destructive behaviour. He needs to get away and sort his life out.

It's easy to cast stones, but there but for the grace of God ..

Best place for him - I hope he'll finally manage to sort himself out.

Prison is the only place for habitual druggies IMHO !

Even though it won't sort him out nothing will.

Thank the higher powers this dick is finally behind bars where he belongs. There is some justice after all.

The only thought that kept me going today at losing out on a Morrissey ticket for me an my fiancee was that tonight, Pete Doherty is going to be making a *lot* of 'special' new friends in his new home!

I agree with all that. I'm no massive Doherty fan but people are just jumping on a bandwagon that must be getting pretty full now. The press are writing their opinions for them. Does nobody find it strange just how one-sided the stories of Doherty have been? I think the fact that he basically gave in says to me that he's an incredibly troubled individual who very much needs some time out of the spotlight.

What makes me reall angry is that the same hacks who make a sport of hounding PD virtually all do drugs themselves.

And some of the posts on this thread sicken me - it's very easy to make glib, holier-than-thou comments about addicts - until it happens to someone close to you and you see the pain.

There is only so much sympathy you can have for people though. He's been in and out of rehab, been arrested so many times, got his girlfriend into coke and you want me to feel sorry for him. I know what he has got is a disease, but the fact he keeps going back to it no matter what...it's hard to feel any pity for him. I hope he gets better, really I do, but I cannot sympathise with him.

He can't complain about the tabloids hounding him when half the time it is him selling a story to them to afford his next hit.

I'm not a fan of Pete Doherty, but reading the news stories really made me wonder if possession of heroin is an offence worthy of incarceration. I don't condone the use of illegal substances, but I believe that people should only be locked up if they pose a real threat to society. Owning a little powder doesn't harm anyone. Using the stuff doesn't either, as long as he keeps himself out of trouble. Of course, he risks harming his own body, but that's up to him.

I don't mean to turn this thread into a debate about drug laws, it's just that that part of the story struck me as a little odd.

How many times has he been stopped whilst driving a car?

Using drugs while driving is the equivalent of being a drink driver.

I believe that Pete is setting a terrible example to the youth of today- they are getting the impression that you can sell millions of records and go out with the most beautiful woman in the world if you are a no good junkie.

Teachers and doctors are continually trying to teach kids that drugs are not the way out and the downside of drug taking - yet the attention this junkie gets is like one step forward and two steps back.

As far as I'm concerned throwing away the key is too good!

Basically they should just give him all the drugs in the world that he needs so he can perish and then nobody has to bloody talk about him anymore!

I can't believe people are still stupid enough to part with cash to attend his gigs when half the time he doesn't bother turning up.

He clearly doesn't care about his fans so why should they care about him any more? Give it up, it's a lost cause.
