Hi White Monk

I think that map is rather pessimistic - I can lock the MBC multiplex more often that not (always in good weather though.)

I'm using an 88cms motorised dish right on the Sussex coast. Given that it was a self-install and I'm hopeless at DIY, it's probably not installed to absolute perfection either!

There's some good stuff in English on 26E, as mentioned previously.

No problem - only breaks up in very bad weather. In north London you should get it no bother with a 1 metre dish if I can get it up here. The lyngsat map is wrong. However I can't get a sniff of BADR 6 up here but 4 and 3 come in no bother.

MBC's are really full of tosh really, if it wasnt for Jeopardy I'd never view them.

Dubai One used to be decent at one time...

Movies are old and the wrong aspect ratio, rather pay 3 quid to buy the actual movie.

I can understand the sport aspect though, but 28.2/28.5e is the best of the lot for good free tv.

Not sure if I have ever read a reception report of Badr 6..

I wasn't making a comparison with 28e which I take for granted as being the best as it is for us in the UK. I was thinking of the other satellites.

I don't agree that it is a lot of tosh - there is certainly some tosh - that I grant you but there is a lot of rubbish all over. MBC Persia is particularly good.

It is perhaps too American orientated but on the whole for free to air TV in English I think this is the best satellite apart from 28e. Maybe Nilesat is better but no chance of getting that up here.

Nilesat is about the same really, better for paytv though.

That is the only real bonus with MBC, is MBC4 and it taking US news and the early morning shows.

It's not actually MTV Europe that's on 5w, its some new MTV in an Eastern or Baltic European language I don't recognise.

It's uplinked from Zagreb in Croatia that's for sure.
alex_ts
11-06-2009
That's neither MTV European (MTV Europe doesn't exist anymore, since 2002), nor a new MTV. And not even MTV Albania, as some forums suggested.

That's MTV Adria, launched in 2005 for countries of the former Yugoslavia.
They are simply moving from Ljubljana (capital of Slovenia) to Zagreb (capital of Croatia), where the new technical department will be located, so they are just testing from the new uplink station before full relaunch from Zagreb, which should occur by the end of the month.
