Dvd Advice
hi, ive got a NTSC/PAL video ive had a few videos from the US played them but they only came out in black & white.....
im thinking of buying a DVD player will this solve the problem are region 1 DVDs played in region 2 color or do you have to have a region 1/2 DVD player to do this thanks!!

They came out in black and white because your tv is not ntsc compatible.
For DVD, it realy depends on the player. For instance the Samsung DVD-S224 from Argos for a reasonable £119.99 can be made multiregionable via a handset hack. Then in the display options there is a bit under NTSC that you can set to a format called PAL60. This will convert the NTSC signal into a PAL signal thus allowing your tv to display the films in full colour. Hope this helps. |

As I have said before you shouldnt need to buy a new tv that is NTSC compatible as if you go for a player that can ouput PAL60 then this should convert the NTSC signal into a PAL equivalent signal thus showing region 1 dvds in full colour.
If your tv happens to be a Bush tv then they dont accept the PAL60 format, so you will need to buy a new tv. Other than that you should be fine. Hope this helps. |

Hope this helps. just got my dvd player connected it up done a test i put it into NTSC mode it came out black and white ..... but then i went into menu/setup changed the video mode from super video to RGB it then came came out in color , ive heard this gets around the problem, still havent played a R1 disc in it though. malibu. |
