The poll's don't refelct the outcome
PaulioRogio

On every forum I have checked, not one has Michael Barrymore in the final 4, never mind final 2, so how as this occured. Does this mean that people who use the internet are a completely different breed to the public who prefer to use telephones as a way of primary communication?

The people on this forum, appear pretty switched on to me and have strong opinions, that are well balanced, so why has the vote on this forum and others not reflected the actual vote on the live show? Whenever I have checked the votes on this forum in past shows, they normally reflect the actual outcome, whether that be the standard big brother or the celebrity edition.

I have nothing against Barrymore or Chantelle and I don't particularly have a favourite, I am just putting the question forward to people more wise than I.

Forum users tend to have far more access to what actually happens in the House as opposed to the majority of the voting public that watch 3-4 shows a week... hence the continual divergent popularity trends between the 'Net and the average non-forum using TV viewer.

forum members see the live feed see what really goes on day and night.
Then you get the people that just watch the highlights and vote from that.
This shows how good the editing team does to sway votes to the winner they want!!!

I don't really know the answer either. But it may have something to do with the target audiences. The average general viewer who remembers Michael Barrymore from his television shows will just want to take part in the programme and not go into the show on such a deep level. If they do have access to the internet, I doubt if this audience would even bother to check a BB site let alone take part in a poll, so they will be missed off. Chantelle's target group are very different. Most will want to live their life through her, so they will check every forum, vote in every poll and spend a great deal of money so that she can live out their fantasy.

Nothing to do that the millions watching and voting have narrowed it down to their 2 Favourites eh,??

Not really. Other than Chantelle, all of them were quite close together in the polls, so it could have gone any way.

it's simple , Barrymore's biggest appeal is to the purple haired bingo Grannies as they are the majority of his fan base . Before anyone takes offence at my comment, I mean that in a nice way as I love my Granny to death

what I'm saying is that 1,000's of the elder generation will have voted by phone but many will not have voted in online polls. The younger generation will have voted a lot more in the online polls also and that's why they don't reflect the outcome

this point has been discussed before about why online polls and the eventuall outcome is different and this is one reason why

Also maybe people (purple haired ones as well) ) voted on the night.

Don't know about that. Of course, strategic editing definitely goes on - but I only saw the highlights, and I wouldn't have put Barrymore in the top four.

yeah your right and many will have also only caught certain parts throughout. Some maybe only just started watching it this week and will have seen a completely different program to those who've watched it day in/day out

so you can see how easily it can swing towards the end of a program schedule

it won't change my views on him as a person but out of all the people in the house I think Barrymore has come out of it the most positive by finishing in 2nd place which is a good thing for him

Shall we take it that you are pleased with the result?

As each HM is eliminated, the majority of people who voted for that HM will still want to have a part in the final outcome, so their votes will then switch to another HM, and so on until the final 2 are left. Coupled with this is the "anti" vote, as in voting for the HM you think has the best chance of beating the favourite. There has been a growing anti-Chantelle feeling and I would imagine that a lot of votes were being switched to Michael as looking to be the most likely one to be able to gather enough support to pip her at the post.

On top of this of course is the H/L of the argument between the HMs the other night which concentrated heavily on the part between MB, DR & GG. Considering the unpopularity of GG, it's not surprising that a lot of support switched to MB after that.

Just a theory, I didn't vote myself so can't complain about or congratulate myself about the outcome.

I don't care about polls...I go with my gut feeling. I though Barrymire might have even toppled Chantelle tonight......at least that's what would've happened .....only if so and so had......

Chantelle got 56% of votes and Michael got 43% which is pretty close considering that all polls and betting predicted a Chantelle landslide.

polls dont take into account that once they start evicting in the final, if a persons favourite has been voted out, then that fanbase may then go on to vote for someone else....and so on...

These types of poll must be taken with a pinch of salt. Not one Poll including the voting was an accurate view of popularity. Because Chavtelle won doesn't mean she is the most popular - it's not scientific because people vote m,any times.

If it had been carried out by NOP or Harris or one of the other polling organistions it would have been more accurate.

OH and try and remember this before you ask it again in summer
