The programme is planned, scripted and 'rigged'. The producers know what will happen months in advance, what the action and script outline is for each day, roughly who will go and who will stay. It's not just editing that ensures who does well. It's who is cast and what the ideas are for their character and story. It would have been decided in advance that Galloway was to be mocked. He was encouraged to be conniving as a politician and, falling for it, BB ratcheted it up by showing the others that he connived. Traci was to play bimbo US starlet. Give Rula Lady Macbeth and give Traci a swimsuit and ask her to fluff her hair, that'll help build the impression she's an airhead. Woops, Traci just gave an eloquent speech about gay rights. Doesn't fit her character plan. Tell you what, edit it out entirely and award Michael the prize. etc etc
Chantelle's win is not her own achievement. It increasingly isn't for the winners of BB. She's was just a pawn. It was pre-planned that she would win and all she had to do was to stick to her own personality and co-operate. Up against a hated maverick politician, a hated glamour model, a hated scarlet woman, an entertainer who had to flee the country and was rarely out of rehab, a washed up actress no one under 45 can remember, a moody black star of a sport barely played in England etc etc - any one of us might have had a good chance of at least doing well. Bring in the right girl, add in the blonde extensions, the topless pics for the press coverage and the sweet personality and it's virtually a dead cert.
