What made you do it?

Was it her chav family shouting 'Live the Dream!!' that appealed?

Her lack of knowledge in geography or biology?

Her constant assurances that she swore on her Mother's life while lying?

Her wearing someone else's hair?

trying to nick someone else's boyfriend?

or just the fact that to all residents of Chav-Ville, she is now their idol.

Next year any old bird off a council estate could be there

First paper to feature her with her tats out- my money's on your super soaraway Sun!

I like how she stood up to the other housemates and always kept her cool

The fact that she never made me want to switch it off whereas all the others did at some point was what swung it for me.

trying to nick someone else's boyfriend?

Sorry i must have missed that part of the show.....Anyone who thinks a Man and a Woman cant be friends has serious paranoia issues....im male and id guess that 90% of my friends are female, my Girlfriend isnt Paranoid....you clearly are

or just the fact that to all residents of Chav-Ville, she is now their idol.

Next year any old bird off a council estate could be there

LOl, you put a lot of effort into your post..well done

as for sour grapes, yeah I'm disappointed MB didn't win, but I think he'll benefit the most over the long term.
Good luck to Chantelle, she's on a gravy train now. I was more curious what it said about us, applauding someone who has literally NO talent

Yes, that was it. As soon as they shouted that I picked up the phone. Never mind the fact that she'd already won by then.

I'm just butting in to this conversation, but I want to know why people seem to think it's OK to make heros out of idiots? Why do YOU think that an ADULT who is stupider than my 10 year old son should be lauded by the GBP?? Seemingly most people who voted think that anyone interesting or talented or intelligent is not worth anything anymore...

Rather pathetic.

Yes, Chantelle is nice and sweet and happy... but **** me I'd much rather have Pete, George, Rula, Faria or even Maggot round for dinner. At least I could talk to them about something.

Thanks and its nice to see someone who wanted Michael to win but isnt contemplating boycotting BB just because he didnt.

Although i did not like Michael for a large part of the show i grew in respect for him and thought he did well in the end and was very pleased for the reception he got.

My points are in no way Anti-Michael, it just bugs me when people get so wound up about it all. Especialy when people start playing the "fix" card (just as a not im in no way suggesting the OP has done this, but some people seem to say this every year)

Chantelle and Maggot will profit incredibaly from this, Preston and Pete as well on a lesser scale and undoubtedly Michael will have got the most out of the experiance but i do honestly believe the right person one.

A fun loving, well-mannered young lady who i believe sets a good example to the youth of this country.

Not everyone has the fortunes of natural intelligance, but the Girl was very sweet and also very polite...Always said her pleases and Thankyou's and in my oppinion was genuinly incredibaly greatful for the opertunity...Im sorry but her reactionw when she won, you can't fake that.

A Good example to the youth of today, and okay, maybe shes a few wires short of a complete circuit, but should she be applauded for trying, being polite and trying to have a good time whilst standing up for herself, or should she be ridiculed for not being the brightest of individuals and a regional accent which certainly helps in maing her sound thick. (Trust me, i was born and bred in Plymouth, The Oohh Arrr Janner Accent is a curse!)

I have no arguments that shes not all that inteligant, but does that mean she should never be allowed to be a sucess?

I'm glad she won because she comes across as a genuinally nice, unspoilt, girl who laughed and enjoyed the whole experience without a trace of ego.

Brains and looks didn't come into it.

Sorry I have to take issue with that

To plagiarise from Galloway, of whom I am no fan but he has a point..this is a grown woman in her 20's with no discernible talent..whose hero is Paris 'porn tape' Hilton. Who thinks Dundee is near Cardiff, and has no idea what a gynaecologist is..a woman in her 20's! She never had a smear test ?!

I worry about a culture that applauds such a lack of effort and the 'quick fix' route to success.

She'll have 15 minutes and countless copycats will forget about working to achieve things and believe they don't have to. What message does it send to kids who actually study to make something of themselves

oh, and the 'live the dream' comment was made by her parents on interviews before the lines closed earlier today...when they first said it I felt myself becoming embarrassed for them

Chantelle does have a nice black parting though

I have had several smear tests and never went near a gynaecologist. They are usually done by the practice nurse at my GP surgery.

Just to take "issue" with that bold bit:

Nurses at the GP's do smear tests dear.

Okay fair enough, but i missed that because i was watching My beloved Nottingham Forest get there buttocks whooped once again

My point is not everyone is born with Inteligance but shes very respectful and polite...I dont understand really what you wanted from her....If you have the brains great, if you don't, you don't.... Are you saying that not a single unintelligant person can make a sucess of themselves because by doing so there setting a bad example.

She could have been a million times worse, she could actualy have been a Chav, she could have thought "Happy Slapping" is funny, She could have been impoilte.

Shes not inteligant, proberbaly never will be, but she makes the best of what shes got and enjoys herself at the same time...I cant see anything wrong with that.

I love this forum but the hatred generated towards Chantelle over the last few days has made me dread coming on. There are housemates past and present whose behaviour has warranted a lot of criticism - Michelle Bass the bunny boiler for one - and Pete and George's unacceptable behaviour in this show.

Chantelle has done absolutely nothing at all except to be a wannabe hoping to be discovered on BB. She didn't even apply for this role, she applied for BB6 but the producers presumably saw something in her and held her back for this show.

She has shown herself to be a nice girl who loves her mum and happens to come from Essex. She's not very well-educated and definitely not very bright in terms of general knowledge, but she didn't apply for University Challenge or Mastermind.

Apart from a few jealous celebs who saw her as a threat, she won friends in the house. After disliking Michael and nominating him over Jodie, and also being shouted at by Michael himself, she won him round by being nicer to him than he had been to her. She deflected Pete's snide remarks and didn't let them get to her. She stood up to George.

OK, so we don't quite know what she was up to with Preston, and she was a bit funny with Traci, but we don't know the full story there.

All in all she has been pleasant, cheerful, fun-loving, and warm. There are no qualifications for winning a reality show. You don't have to sing or dance better than the others or do all the cooking and cleaning or impress everyone with your incisive wit. The show develops organically and the viewers pick a favourite. Nobody can predict how it will happen or who it will be. Yes, yes, Endemol probably worked out how it should happen, having decided who it shoud be, but they need the viewers to feel the same way. No matter how much editing you do people can usually see what someone is like.

For some reason, however, a vociferous proportion of FMs have taken a dislike to this harmless girl and kept up a tirade of vitriol towards her culminating in this outpouring of wrath at the fact that she has had the temerity to win the thing.

The chav insults have only started in the last couple of days - who thought of that brilliant put down? It just sums up how you would like to regard her.

It appears that FMs take exception to any HM "chosen" by Endemol and deliberately take the opposite view. But just because Endemol wants to promote somebody doesn't mean they are bad or unworthy per se. It's not as if there is another worthier winner that everybody is agreed on.

I wish people would chill out a bit and allow this girl her 15 minutes of fame. If she gets longer than 15 minutes she may prove everybody wrong, who knows. Meanwhile, please everybody, just get off her back.

i didnt vote but to cut a long story short.

people who voted liked her and you didnt

THE END

I'm hoping she's got enough brains to know that she'll probably have her 15 minutes of fame and that's it....if she stays the same and doesn't let other people fill her head with nonsense, she'll be fine.

My observation is that people vote for those in BB in whom they observe positive moral qualities.
