My Mum had a long term boyfriend when she met my Dad and broke the guys heart to be with my Dad and they have been married 39 years in September.
You are so right...love isn't convenient and sometimes, to coin a hideous cliche, these things happen!
I feel sorry for Preston's g/f but him and Chantelle are just made for each other!
It was like watching two teenagers.... and once /IF they got sex out of the way I doubt it will last.....
So where does Preston proposing to his girlfriend fit into all this (see Sun article?) I suppose it could be the normal Sun crap.

I think you're right. The UST kept them interested in each other to the end, but if they do become a couple I don't think it would last long. Superficially they make a very cute couple but there is quite a big intellectual gap between them.
