Hi everyone

I guess this is the best place to put this thread and i had a look through the forum but didnt find anything that helpful, so hope you guys can help.

My trusty Samsung DECT phone died recently and i bought a BT synergy 3105. The first one had a terrible hissing sound, even when it wasnt connected to the phone line, so I returned it and got a replacement. The replacement did the same thing so I guess that that model just isnt very good.

None of my other older DECT phones make a single noise through the earpiece so why should a new one?

Can anyone reccomend me a decent DECT phone? The only feature that I really do need is caller ID, and everything else isnt that important.

I have seen one in the Argos catalogue, its a iDECT X1 with jSOUND crystal clear sound technology. Does anyone know if this is any good?

thanks!

I tried the Magibox one in Argos, it looks soooo sexy it really is a good looking phone with no buttons its a touch pad, I found out it is made by Philips, but was very dissapointed that it too had a shooshing on the line, so basically im saying rule Philips out.

The idect is made by Binatone so again beware, I havnt tried it but its just a little heads up as Binatone ive heard have this too.

I have a BT Diverse 1010 Made by Siemens its really old but its as clear as a bell, no caller display but I have a seperate unit, I got the phone from eBay for £7 inc p&p about 2 years ago and Im still pleased with it. When these phones first came out they were like £300 so I guess you get what you pay for, Unless you get it second hand as I did.

Another make that I know is very good for dect phones is Hagenuk you cant get them new now but when you could it won the which reports again and again so if you see one of these knocking about grab it.

Hope that helps you a little at least.

I too have an old BT siemens diverse 3010, brilliant phone with no noise whatsoever. I currently have this on my ntl telephone line and need to replace the one that died which was on my bt line.

So, phillips is ruled out, as are BT and binatone. Looking through the argos catalogue, that leaves ntl and panasonic phones.

Any reccomendations?

Stear clear of Panasonic. Awfully low volume.

What am I to do now? Out of curiosity, what does everyone here have?

The phones I linked to, I bought for a friend, and they are very good, they are more than pleased with them, and recommend them to others.

They aren't exactly the best looking phones out there. However, they are fairly cheap and if you rate them, then i may have to give them a try.

I think they look pretty good, my friend thought so too, and he's the type like me who would say if they really thought otherwise.

We bought the BT 3505 from Tesco a while ago, and have never had a problem with it.

I have a BT Diverse X10, which I bought 'reconditioned' and this is a very good handset, and importantly it had caller ID on waiting call, that was my only real criteria when buying this phone, however it has great speaker phone, hands-free headset socket with earpiece/microphone, and excellent sound quality.

Well you asked for it lol.

I heard NTL phones are made by Binatone. Sorry mate, but I guess the one good thing is that Argos will let you bring things back under there 16 day guarantee. I suggest that you pic one you like try it, because the bt ones that are still made by siemens should be very good there german you know lol, as far as i know the Diverse range are made by Siemens but you never really can tell unless like my diverse 1010 it shows it written on there, im guessing that some of the new bt ones are not all made by the same people.

I think i will just flip through the argos catalogue and keep buying phones until i am happy with one. The first one i will go for is the one reccomended by BexTech.

I really am not looking for anything fancy and exciting, I just dont want to have to continuosly listen to a hissing sound whilst using the phone, and it has to have caller id since BT now give that feature for free.

Thanks everyone for their advice, keep up the good work.
