Another reason Chantelle won - the vacuous hipocracy of celebs;i.e.Rodman

My post on Galloway was censored by the mods out of fear of that man even though I quoted from the BBC only; see how long this one lasts!

IMHO I think the reason Chantelle won was a tribute to the common sense of the GBP and their ability to see straight through the vacuous nature of the "celebs" who demand inordinate amounts of respect for their professional achievements.

Case in point is Dennis Rodman and his nauseating support for the vile Pete Burns over his fur coat. Rodman appeared on the New York fashion scene as a spokes person for PETA:-

" Dennis Rodman is coming to NYC for Fashion Week—not to sit in the front row at a show, but to unveil his provocative new PETA ad in the very tents where designers are pushing fur. In PETA’s ad, Rodman appears nude—except for his tattoos—alongside the caption, “Think Ink, Not Mink,” and urges: “Be comfortable in your own skin and let animals keep theirs.” "

...unlike Chantelle, showed in her unwavering support for Jodie, Rodman displays a self serving hypocrisy and a man totally without principles beyond his own self importance.

I think Chantelle also displayed a perceptive weariness of Rodman when she perceived him to be threatening to her. He's got form on this:-

"Dennis Rodman was arrested by Miami Beach police in November 1999 and charged with assaulting his wife, actress Carmen Electra. Charges were dropped later that month. "

The value of CBB is to put these "celebs" on the stage for a prolonged period so the we can see what they are really like. You can’t fool all of the people all of the time. In Rodman’s case you needn't have known anything about his previous life, the GBP were perceptive enough to boot him. Same with Galloway. Same with Burns.

They can scurry back under the rocks from which they crawled.

CBB - a triumph for the GBP over the "celeb" culture that we are lead to believe by the media that we have all succumbed to. We showed 'em! lol

What a load of bollocks..the Brits just love an underdog and she is even more vacuous than the celebs... so.... and give her a week ...she will even worse then Jodie etc etc

You did not show anybody anything.. since it was decided ages ago by BB she would win.. jeeze...
Those who voted showed only gulliblity and that culture has sunk to entitle the non talented to be sort of temp "famous" for nothig at all...which is sick

Couldn't agree with you more.

I have a problem with the very principle of putting a non-celeb into the show, and I question the marbles of the BB hierarchy for even thinking it would be a good idea. History of all flavours shows that the GBP will always support an underdog, seemingly irrespective of the whys and wherefores of the matter. They should have realised that Chantelle would walk it (as the polls consistently showed) and thereby take the excitement of the unknown out of it. I would argue that it had little to do with the qualities - positive or negative - of the 'real' celebs (half of whom I hadn't heard of, but that's by the by), and the real result is the order in which THEY came, not the fact that Chantelle got the underdog vote.

BB has jeopardised the future of CBB because they've taken away the true meaning of it, and must have deterred many a celeb - whether they're A, J or Z list - from going withing 100 miles of the BB house.

The real result is that Chantelle beat all the "celebs", despite their so-called "talent".

The future of CBB has not been jeopardised. The ratings were good; the tabloids are happy.

Hear, hear.

There's always been people famous for more or less just being famous. Right up to the 50s (I think) for instance, pictures of debutantes used to sell well and members of the extended Royal Family are famous for just being members of the extended Royal Family, as have been just rich people in general, such as Barbara Hutton. It's not all that new and I couldn't care less about celeb status so I'm not at all concerned about Chantelle winning.

Don't get me wrong - I don't have a problem with Chantelle herself; she's a sweet enough girl and, once the deed was done and she was in there, I guess she deserved to win no less than any of the celebs. But you didn't get what it said on the tin, and she didn't beat them at their own game, which I thought was what Celebrity Big Brother (or any other BB for that matter) is all about - all things should start off equal. She beat them because she was a normal girl up against 'abnormal' people, which is all very fine and dandy, but meant that the celebs never realistically stood a chance. People identified with her non-celeb status - and, yes, she's a nice girl, which helped - but it wasn't a level playing field. And Traci was a nice girl too, but that meant nothing in the end. If it had been about niceness, she'd have been far higher up the pecking order.

This all sounds rather serious, but I don't really care - it's already becoming a distant memory and real life's kicked in again and I've got to get to the dump before it shuts at 3!
Congratulations

Worked with a group of 100 people with average age of 24 today. There is an ethnic mix and most are graduates. CBB was not mentioned by anyone, even though they were talking about it on Thursday afternoon. This show has left an embarrassing smell behind.
Congratulations

I also have a problem with directly soliciting money from kids with a ploy like this. It should not be allowed. We pay enough for Channel 4 as it is.

Of course the tabloids are happy. The show has been won by someone with ne experience of fame at any level but who is hungry for it. She will do whatever it takes and they will take any opportunity to attack her for it.

If charges were dropped then Dennis doesn't have form. He was totally up himself, though, but that's not a crime either.
