I don't think that the purpose of CBB was ever to discover which celebrity was the most famous.

Given that most have always been second and third rankers, it seems sublimely ironic that a nobody should win. It's only a piece of nonsense anyway.

It's a headliner gimmick, which contributes to the marketing strategy of the BB legend. Endemol want memorable outcomes, and this was brilliantly effected through audience manipulation. I tell you, this will be a case study in future media degree examinations.

It may be classed as 'Rubbish TV' but the stakes can be high if you win BB. I think that Chantelle's 'living the dream' really comes down to Maggot. Jodie Marsh was on to her (behind Chantelle's back) and Preston was convinced that she was a false contestant - nobody had ever heard of her and she didn't know the lyrics to the song - even Preston knew of 'Goldie Looking Chain'! During the first 2/3 days, Chantelle underperformed in the show and she was certainly not a favourite to win. But Maggot, he just had to believe that she was for real and was better known than him. Either that, or it was gameplan to be humble and seem polite - but it still backfired

She was told to stand in that position by Endemol /BB. And not budge, at all costs. You could see it on her face. The "real" down-to-earth Chantelle would have put herself last without even thinking she might be rumbled as a non-celeb. But she didn't.
