A turbulent childhood propelled Michael towards the stage. He spent his early career working as a Red Coat at Butlins holiday camps for eight years. From this experience, Michael toured the UK with the Black and White Minstrels show, where he met his wife-to-be Cheryl. He soon landed a spot on the Russ Abbot Saturday Madhouse, and appearances on Little and Large and Blankety Blank quickly followed and in 1982 Michael was given his own series The Michael Barrymore Show. In 1983, he performed his famous dying swan act in Swan Lake at a Royal Variety Show and was signed for another series of his own show, confirming him as one of the country's most popular entertainers. In 1995, the tabloid press forced him to 'come out' and his marriage to Cheryl ended in divorce in 1997. In April 2001, the story broke that was to change Michael's life forever when he was questioned by police about his role in the death of Stuart Lubbock. Following a police investigation, Michael received a caution for possession and use of cannabis. No other charges were filed against him. Following the revelations, ITV terminated Michael's contract and his UK television career collapsed. Currently Michael has permanent residency in New Zealand where he lives with his long-term partner Shaun Davis and also where he has enjoyed success with his sell out live Laid Back tour. Michael is also involved with various charities and regularly attends fund-raising events.

Why Celebrity Big Brother?
“To show the real me?”

Vegetarian Chantelle describes herself as a bright, blonde bimbo and self-proclaimed looker, 'I look like Paris Hilton, not on purpose but it's just the way it turned out. People are often jealous of my looks but that's their problem not mine.” Her love of shopping, lip-gloss and all things pink makes her one of the girls and her proudest moment was winning ‘Majorette of the Year’ when she was 10. She is definitely not an extrovert, but will be up for fun and antics if someone else starts it first.

Most subjects went over her head at school and she has little interest in the wider issues of the world. Chantelle lives for the weekend when she heads out drinking with her sole purpose to “mingle with the dingles”, shark fit blokes and pounce on them.

She has been employed as a Paris Hilton lookalike and also does promotions work at motor shows, which helps fund her passion for partying.

The hula-hoop is Chantelle’s only form of exercise, she fancies Jonny Wilkinson, gives herself 4./10 for intelligence and hates Prince Charles. She likes reading crime novels but hates anything to do with science fiction or fantasy as it doesn’t happen in real life, so doesn’t interest her. Chantelle says she wants to prove that people can be good looking and still be normal and down-to-earth. The cruellest thing someone has done to her is bought the same outfit and she finds that some people take an instant dislike to her which she thinks is because of the way she looks.
