Last night’s Celebrity Big Brother attracted a peak audience of 7.5 million viewers as non celebrity Chantelle gained official celebrity status by winning this year’s series. This is an increase of almost 2 million viewers compared to last year’s Celebrity Big Brother finale.
Unofficial overnight viewing figures from BARB have indicated that last night’s (Friday 27 January) 10 pm finale show was watched by an average 6.8m million viewers and a 34% share of those viewing television at the time, as Michael Barrymore took second place with Maggot in third.
At its peak the show was watched by 7.5 million viewers and a 40% share of the audience.
The earlier 8.30pm show, which saw first Traci Bingham, Pete Burns and then Preston voted out of the house, attracted an average 6 million viewers and a 25% share peaking at 6.8 million and a 28% share.
Last night’s 10pm final proved as popular as the launch show (Thursday 5 January) which peaked with 7.6 million viewers and a 32% share tuning in to watch this year’s celebrity line up enter the house.
The series has pulled in an average audience of 4.5m and an average19% share of available audience – up 11% on last year – and attracted a 16–34 profile of 39% . The series had an upmarket profile of 45% ABC1s.

Almost 3 million votes were cast during the series and an estimated £480,000 raised for charity over the 23 day run. Last year’s series, won by Happy Mondays dancer Bez, raised £262,000 for charity with 1, 048,007 votes cast throughout the 18-day run.
Celebrity Big Brother’s Little Breakfast, hosted by Dermot O’Leary, averaged 407/8% share throughout its run, while E4’s Celebrity Big Brother’s Big Mouth average 514/3%.
