The Strokes - First Impressions of Earth
Anyone got this? I've just heard it and I was disappointed. The best track is the single Juicebox. Everything else is average.
Oh well... |

I liked the album as a whole. I agree Juicebox is the best but there are some other fun catchy tunes. Worth a buy I say, especially if you get the digipack. You can play with the cover, all kinds of fun for a simple mind like me.

I've had this since 2nd Jan and have enjoyed it more each time I've heard it.

I agree with Carmen Queasy. I thought after hearing Juicebox, the rest of the album might be as good. I was wrong!

I'm with Elle.
And, to be honest, after hearing the single I wasn't looking forward to it. The first two albums I adored, loved and played to death several times over. My only problem with the second album was, that it was more of the same, you could in fact quite comfortably but the first two albums onto one CD, it was a good album in its own right but a dissapointment of sorts compared to Is This It? The third album I bought on release, played it and wondered what I was worrying about, the tracks "On The Other Side" (5) and "Ask Me Anything" (7) are without doubt some of their best work to date. I played it more and I even like Juicebox, and can now safely say there isn't one track I don't like, it's twice as long as the first two albums and I don't think thats a bad effort from the lads at all. Two thumbs up |

I'll give it a few more listens...
I'm not really a fan of theirs, but their singles are class. |

I like it a lot, more so than the last album. The intro of the opening track reminds me of 'Heart of Glass', but nobody I've mentioned this to seems to agree. I hope I'm not going mental.

I'm listening to it now. It does. One of the tracks at the beginning sounds like the Pogues, (this is from someone who doesn't have any of their Cd's though). 15 Minutes. I played the other albums so much especially leading up to the release of this one. I had Room on Fire first in my collection for ages having listed to it once and not thinking that much of it. Did any one see the Strokes on MTV2 New Years Eve? |
