Does anyone know where I can get the ORIGINAL version of Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart? I've got the polished version, but I much prefer the original and I've lost it.

Any help would be appreciated.

xx

I have an mp3 of the track but no idea which version it is. It's 3:26 in length if that gives you a clue? Probably the one you're not looking for, but if you PM me your email address I'll send you it anyway just to see...

I believe the original version was when they were on the John Peel in '79. I think this is this album

If you mean FAC23, the 7" single, someon'e selling it on eBay at the moment or you could get it from eil.com next time they get a copy. If you don't mean that one, sorry I don't know.

Would it be on Heart and Soul, the Joy Division box set?

Brilliant track and one of the greatest records of all time IMO.

Depends what you mean by original.

The earliest recorded version is a Peel Session from 1979 but the first "proper" studio release was the 1980 single, which contained two versions - track 1 being a slightly newer version than track 3.

See here for details:
