It is fully understandable why JTH felt the need to explain the reason she was on the show yesterday after some of the comments made on that thread

However, I don`t understand the reason some fms seem to enjoy baiting her

I also enjoy seeing Jenni on BBLB and the fact she comes on here to tell us of her experience, it adds a little more insight into the hms.

It would be a shame if she stopped frequenting this forum due to the unnecessary jibes made about her by some of the fms

Note to JTH
After you saw Science on the show last year, you said there was more to say about him but you`d leave it to well after summer.

It`s well after the summer now, so please spill

What are the five tips Jenni? I am looking for builders to renovate our house at the moment. Just waiting to do it has been bad enough...................
Don't worry if it's going to take too long, but I would really like to know.
Also please don't stop talking to us.

try here, government launched the scheme yesterday

TrustMark is a new scheme supported by Government, the building industry and consumer groups to help you find reliable and trustworthy tradespeople to make improvements and repairs to your home.

"My father owned a building a company and many years ago I did a series for the BBC called Cheggers challenge where we went around the country re-doing, amongst other things, people's houses - this was before Changing Rooms."

So it was your fault I was made to watch Changing Rooms by my missus for all those years...... I doubt if I will ever be able to forgive you for this

Thanks for clarifying what you do to earn your living but you shouldn’t have to do that. Hopefully it silenced the members who were making assumptions and attempting to denigrate your work. You did it so graciously too!

I’m afraid I was far less gracious and got angry with some of those assumptions and I apologise to you for that, but they got right up my nose.

You are such a smoothie AG but I am older than Madonna (or the age she says she is) but younger than Barrymore.

I was really curious when I met Science as to why he hadn't made it known in the house that he was an award-winning documentary maker, that the BBC had honoured him and that he did lots of volunteer work with kids and young people. I felt that it would have done his cause a lot of good if people knew that they would have realised there was yet another dimension to his character. I know that some of us on the boards knew but we're all anoraks I thought it would have been important/useful for the general public to know. He told me that he had said it frequently (in a non-big headed way). He said there had been many a conversation in the house about it - he had discussed it everywhere and not once was it ever shown...........

Personally I found that verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting. I know you can't show everything that a person says but I think it odd to leave out something that critical to the public's perception of a major character.

5 TIPS TO DEALING WITH THE BUILDERS :

(this is an abbreviated version)

1. Make a firm decision regarding what you want to have done. Be sure that what you want to have done correlates with what you have to spend. If anyone else is involved in the decision-making process be sure you're in agreement before you start talking to builders. If they spot a less-than-united front some will take advantage.
2. Do your research. Get magazine clippings of what you want. Go to shops and check out prices. Go to your local DIY shop and ask questions about materials and what your work might involve. Most of the people who work in these shops are actually retirees from the building trade. Write down what they tell you so you know the lingo when the builder starts talking to you.
3. Keep a file. Keep every piece of paper, every receipt, every magazine clipping. Also keep a notebook in the file and scribble a few lines after every conversation with the date and what was said. If heaven forbid anything goes wrong you will need all that to back up your claim.
4. Ask for credentials and references. Check them both thoroughly. Do NOT accept - 'it's in the van', 'I forgot it but let's go ahead anyway'. If you haven't checked their credentials and something goes wrong there is a good chance that your insurance company will tell you take a hike.
5. Always remember that an educated consumer is a confident consumer and the more confident you are - the less likely it is that you will be taken advantage of.

Good Luck Froglet.

You are a star Jenni. Thank you. It is a scary thing to be doing and it's amazing (having lived in one all my life) how little I know about how houses work!

It's strange how we think of her as 'ours' because that's what she is.

It may be because none of us know what each other looks like or sounds like or do for a living. I personally think Jenni is 'well-good' to quote my daughter and I'm older than Jenni so I'm allowed to say it.

I'm not sure. I noticed him on BBBM the other night in the audience. I'll ask around and see what I find out.

As much as I like and respect Jenni - going on CBB would be a kiss of death

.. unless of course BB decides to give you preferential treatment

.. it does work the other way around too ...

Nope ... I'd personally, prefer Jenni to stay on the forum and be our insider when she visits Dermott ....

This is one of the reasons I personally don't line Endemol's pockets any more ... this type of thing has been going on (or started) imo, in BB3

BB is your friend if your face fits what they want ... Science's image (according to BB) did not fit the 'good guy' image

I won't be paying for their internet streaming this year and if it means I miss BB ... then so be it.
