Rousing songs
no, not arousing
I love rousing songs. You know, the ones that lift your spirits, stir your soul and motivate you or bring out some real emotion. Things like 'You raise me up' (though now its highly over-played) so, care to recommend any that I may not have heard of, but really move you? |

Dionne Warwick did an incredible live version of Stevie Wonder's 'For once in my life'. It starts out very quiet and restrained but by the end of it she's really belting it out and you can't help but join in and feel the world's a better place.
If Westlife were singing it, they wouldn't just be standing up from their stools, they'd be waving them round their head and then throwing them into the audience. |

Marvin Gaye.... "What's going On"
Absolutely beautiful record, that never fails to tug at me! The Carpenters also brought out some lovely tracks, like.... "Superstar" "Hurting each other" "Yesterday once More" "Close to You" |

At the moment (and I'm not succumbing to the hype), I Bet You Look On the Dancefloor really rouses me atm; the way it gets louder and louder ("FROM NINETEEN EIGHTY FOUUURRRRR!") has much more effect on me than pish like Westlife.

Fix you - Coldplay does that for me at the moment.
Partly because it is a really soul stirring record, partly because of the video, but also because I saw them play it at Glastonbury which has added to the emotion of the song for me! |
