Well I do not wish to sound paranoid. But brookside was channel 4's highest rated show. Then they found a new show- Big Brother, and shifted everything around the timeslots, to help the new show. And brookside died.

Jus' don't wanna see it happen on bbc1 vis a vis DW.

We can only hope that the BBC takes note and whatever sporting or live event is taking place that Who will remain in the same slot until the end of series two and isn't moved around the schedules at a moments notice.

The World Cup will probably clash with Doctor Who. Not much the BBC can do about that, as the world cup is shown on the other side as well.

If it's an england game, then Doctor Who will get shunted around.

Or shown on BBC2 instead?

No, I'm sure that they wouldn't do that - DW would be an important audience-grabber for an evening.

I'm not old enough to know but did Doctor Who clash with the 1966 World Cup (which England won lol) ?

Today I got further information from my BBC contacts who assure me it is going to air on Saturday 15th April.

I totally respect that people want to hear OFFICIAL word from the BBC, but all I can say is that we are gonna have a FANTASTIC Easter!

As far as the world cup goes, I also got confirmation that games will start in the afternoon, and the later games wont start until 8pm, which gives plenty of time (15mins) for a pre-match intro.

Even if S2/28 runs when the World Cup is on, the BBC has scheduled the following matches:

Saturday 10 June - England match at 2pm only
Saturday 17 June - Portugal v Iran at 2pm only
Saturday 24 June - one match only starting at 4pm or at 8pm. If England are playing it will be on BBC at 4pm.
Saturday 1 July - one match only starting at 4pm or at 8pm. If England are playing it will be on BBC at 4pm. BUT a possible clash with a British tennis player in the third round at Wimbledon.
Saturday 8 July - Third Place play off at 8pm if BBC show it.

15th April ties with starting at the Easter weekend again PLUS the weekend of the 8-9 July would see the end of series 2/28, the World Cup Final and the Wimbledon finals.

Wimbledon & World Cup may result in a change of time, like it probably will on 20th May 2006 for the Eurovision Song Contest, just as 'The Empty Child' was brought forward to accomodate Eurovision 2005. If Doctor Who is on at 7pm, there still would need to be a lottery programme before any other sport programme / Eurovision etc.

Disappointing to wait til then BUT it'll be worth the wait!

But not if you're planning to nip down to the pub to see the footy on the 42inch screen .....

My feelings exactly, but I guess there will be many World Cup footy fans who are likely to be DW watchers (even on a casual basis).

Yawn indeed! As long as it doesn't interfere with Who and England does finally make it through to the final again then everyone will be happy.
