I was replying to a post on the Smash Hits closes thread and couldn't help but fondly remember Aqua. They were Danish and did that bloody Barbie Girl song and also a song for the Sliding Doors soundtrack, anyone?

I think alot of people will remember Aqua - especially for Barbie Girl.

I quite liked that song they did for the Sliding Doors soundtrack. Think that was the last song they released. No idea what happend to them?

I love the song they did for the Sliding Doors soundtrack, it was called Turn Back Time - not sure if you don't know, or if you just didn't mention it!

Even now, I'll happily sing along (or at least try anyway... ) and admit that I love that song! Much like I am doing now

I love Barbie Girl - one of the filthiest songs ever (very annoying, but I loved all of the innuendo)

I loved Aqua.

Had the first album Aquarium and it was just pure cheese and amazing.
DR Jones has to be one of the best tracks of the 90s same with turn back time.

The second album pretty much flopped"Aquarius" but had the fabulous Cartoon Heroes track on it which I really liked.

Let's hope they don't join the crap groups reforming bandwagon.

They were also very good IMO performing during the voting break at the Eurovision the other year, when it was held in Norway/Denmark or wherever there from

they were utter cheese! but good because they were fun and original

Aqua + Safri Duo live at the Eurovsion Song Contest 2001

RooftopCowboy: This is the video I have from Copenhagen 2001 - PM me if you are interested.

I love Dr. Jones, Around the World, Turn Back Time and Cartoon Heroes!

Oh and on the video from Eurovision 2001 that I have it's the Barbie Girl song with a difference:

Ken: Hiya Barbie!
Barbie: F**k off Ken!
Ken: Wanna go for a ride?
Barbie: Get a life will ya?
Ken: OK!

(Song)

Barbie: Why don't you just leave me alone?
Ken: I'm just trying to make friends!
Barbie: Dirty B*stard!
Ken: Am I?

This was also the contest where Terry Wogan called the Danish presenters "Dr. Death" and "The Tooth Fairy" Denmark demanded that BBC apologised!

I must admit that I like Turn Back Time too - the rest was dire though! I think their last single was Cartoon Heroes.

Yes they were put down a lot by people because of their cheesy songs, but I thought they were quite catchy

Aquarium did very well in the album chart.

Anyway my kids thanks to First Choice holidays, Kids Mini Disco they love "cartoon Heros" .

And thanks to Nicklelodeon Tiny Pop they know all the words to Barbie Girl.

It is going to be a long time before Aqua go away.

The only thing I associate them with is the Barbie Girl song. Mind you, that was quite amusing.
