should I be scared or not about them? Basically as most know carphone warehouse bought out onetel (or onehell as I call them) I had a onetel broadband account before I migrated (say no more about that) and also I still have a talk plan with them and as an existing customer I'm certain to be transferred. Question is.........should I stick around? or get out while I got the opportunity because I've read all about talktalk's not so good broadband service....not too sure if their landline's much better.

I wouldn't use TalkTalk as I know someone who used it and they muddled up the bills and weren't able to call anywhere as they suspended the line. Even when they dialed 1280, it still didn't work, all calls were diverted to bt saying 'Your call has been diverted to BT, there isn't a fault and you have not been charged for this call.

If you were to keep your existing BT landline, I would recommend the following:

Tesco Homephone (Good customer service,cheap calls)
Bulldog Broadband
Kingston Comms (Now available on BT landlines)

All I need to know. I know talktalk's Broadband is pretty awful.....and this appears to be the case with their landline service. Think I'll be sending 1 or 2 e-mails and making a few phone calls to get out while I can (as I don't even fancy having billing issues with talktalk) had enough with onehell with both billing AND broadband issues.

dont use them they are that bad ,I know I can change but will stick it out only three months left with them I am looking to see who offers the best deal so why burn all my boats and move now

I would recommend Wanadoo/Orange for internet and Kingston's Talk More for Telephone!

That actually looks pretty good. £13 for a uk free plan thingy and £4.99 extra only for international plan....hm if I could fix that for my o2 to come off with 1 DD then this new company to come off so I don't get any trouble with the bank.....(not that fussed about a mobile plan cause I get plenty of free minutes with my mobile and plenty of minutes left due to carry over and unusued and stuff) me thinks I'll be phoning this company good find

1899 for daytime calls at 3p per call.

I really like talk talk, Our bill is usually £19 per month (inc line rental) and thats for free calls anytime

I 've been using talk talk for about 2 to 3 years now and i've had no problems with them.

Whats the point in messing around with access codes when daytime calls are 3p per minute on all landline networks anyway????

Well, i've tried dialers and those access codes and became sick and tired of them.

With 1899 it is 3p per CALL, so if you are on for 5 minutes or 60 minutes it's 3p.

So you may wish to pay for a 60 minute call at 3p/min = £1.80.

I'd rather pay 3p for the same 60 minute call.

(Though I am VoIP only now, so that same call costs me nothing).

There are no problems whatsoever with dialling access codes, and if you are lazy no problems with the dialler box.

I'm sure you are a Telewest employee, as your posts on anything telecom are rather strange.

Unless you are able to get a large reduction on a cable phone line rental, then having a BT line is the only way to save money, as you can get for free CPS suppliers who offers free evening and weekend calls, you can use 1899 for 3p calls.

We have had Talk Talk for over a year now, and line rental since last summer.

Our bills are much cheaper than they were with BT, and we have had no problems.

Unless everyone you call is also on TalkTalk, and you don't use 1571 and caller display, then at best your bills can only be pennies cheaper, unless all your calls you make are at weekends, or you were able to get for free, free evening and weekend calls. Otherwise it just isn't possible to save loads just by switching to TalkTalk and often can cost more, and believing you are saving loads, you are only fooling yourself.

Plus now you have line rental off TalkTalk, you now prevent yourself from making real true savings, not just the pennies you may be saving now.

Well to update slightly on my own thread! I was very put off reading about talktalk and carphone warehouse from users and I requested to leave my current onetel contract. Took me to threaten legal action to get the account closed as they would not adknowledge me in any shape or form whatsoever. If thats what it takes to be able to leave 1 company, Fear to think what it would have been like if talktalk was added to the mix......well need not worry about that no more.

Don't use Talk Talk they are useless.
My first bill wasn't paid properly as they didn't have my full bank details (sort code etc) only my debit card details.

Anyway because my bill wasn't paid they barred my phone until I paid it.I had to wait 3 hours for them to ring me back and I paid it with my card.
They said my line should be back within 24 hours.

It was over 48 hours before it came back.I emailed to the complaints dept saying they should have sorted the payment before barring me and 48 hours was ridiculous.They emailed back saying I was in the right then I got another email saying they were going through the proccess of cancelling my account.I had threatened to leave but never said I was going to but sod it!!

I've emailed back asking why they've done this without my permission, my bills are up to date, in fact my second bill was paid early.
I've had no reply.

Avoid at all costs, it's a shambles of a company.

I have been with Talk Talk for nearly a year and have to say have not had any problem with them, a number of my friends are also with them I think the biggest bill I have had is about £6.00. My line rental is still with BT.

I went into a carphone warehouse yesterday to look about getting my mobile repaired, instead the sales person launched a full out assault about Talk Talk.

The thing is he blatantly stood and lied about BT charges to me, he was comparing line rental and said Talk Talk was £10.49 inc vat and that BT was £11.00 + vat and said that was £13 odd in total, I challenged him on this more than once but as their literature was vague enough so as not to make it clear. I left it at that, it was only later when I decided to dig out my BT bill I noticed that BT actually charge £9.35 + Vat = £11.00. Which includes free caller display with BT Privacy, the same caller display Talk Talk said would be an extra £1.50 per month, so saving according to the proper calculations I would be £1 worse off a month with Talk Talk.

I've had talk talk broadband and phone (excl. line rental) for about a year.

I can honestly say, I've had NO PROBLEMS with the service. Phone bills coming in at about £10 and when you look at the figures, we spend nearly 8hours on the phone every month. A fair few of those are to Ireland.

I pay £14.99 per month for broadband and free evening and weekend calls plus calls to other Talk talk customers are free 24/7. OH and if I manage to persuade my Irish relatives to get on talk talk, I can call them for free too.

I was with Onetel, but am definately saving more with Talk Talk.

Let me recommend you, there's a tenner in it for both of us!!!!!!!
