No I was quite shocked that he left, and he certainly wasn't the worst. But he was nothing speacial in my eyes and his childish attitude since leaving has not done him any favours. It's a shame, cos I quite liked him in Dr Who.

I don't blame him if he is a little 'bitter', to be honest, but what I've seen is upset rather than bitterness. 'Old', as I've said - I don't think he is. 'Queen' - well, I have heard him call himself that in jest from time to time, but as I don't know him to use it in jest, I won't.

So.. where you see a 'bitter old queen' - I see an 'upset young(...ish ) man' - different people can see the same thing in different ways - c'est la vie!

Did you actually 'see' him say rude things? I 'saw' him say he thought Bonnie should win, so I find it very odd that he would then supposedly slate her! From direct interviews, it seemed that Bonnie was the most upset that John had gone as they were so close!

The written word can be very misleading, especially with a tabloid spin, so personally, if someone has supposedly slated someone else, I don't believe it unless I've heard it from the horses mouth. I've actually seen articles written in certain tabloids using quotes that were taken from interviews I've watched myself that have completely turned on it's head what the interviewee actually meant when I saw the full interview in front of my eyes. Tabloid journalists are very good at putting whatever spin they want on things to sell more papers - it's their job and the truth doesn't always sell! Of course they want backstage at DoI to be a den of backstabbing and bitching, so if they can twist someone's words to make it sound that way, they will... and I bet it won't stop with John... If I'd have seen John making rude comments about Bonnie, or any of the other skaters (maybe except Kelly, as I may well agree after seeing some of her interviews), I would have thought less of him, but in TV interviews (Defrosted, GMTV, This Morning, The Wright Stuff - the joy of Sky+ ) he still comes across very well, which will make me miss him all the more.

I'm gutted that John went as I would have loved to have seen a final with both him and Bonnie in - I think they're both great for different reasons. I don't know who I would have wanted to ultimately win, but I don't think the final will have as much excitement for me now, which is a shame.

Anyway, back to the skating I think Gaynor may be one to watch and Bonnie has improved on the ice (she was always great in air). In fact, I'm amazed at how they're all improving. Sometimes when I'm watching certain people, I'd get a little uncomfortable/nervous waiting for a slip, but as people are improving and are more confident, I suppose my confidence in them has grown and I get the 'nervous' feeling less and less.

Will still miss the fabulous John though

I have been told by someone who can skate that Sean is the one to watch, I will have to bow to their better judgement as I have always felt nervous watching Sean on the ice. He is a nice chap but my money would be on a Bonnie and Gaynor final.

Not to sound too academic about it, what do we mean when we say 'so-and-so is the best skater'? Do we mean the most artistic, the most convincing performer, the most exciting, graceful or the most technically accomplished? And accomplished across the board technically or only in some elements? And what about degrees of difficulty - it's hard to rate ability when the levels of steps/choreography/lifts are variable. I know the judges get a lot of stick and I too shout at the TV, but when you really think about it, this is not an easy judgement to make - 'best skater' means so many things and different things to different people!

Are there going to be 3 in the final? I thought Philip said there were 4 weeks to go until the final on last weeks show and there were 7 contestants left then.

Might just be my maths though.

i like gaynor and bonnie but i think she needs to be on the ice a bit more

if you think about it gaynor could hardly skate and now i think she is the best and when she slipped she got up again and she is not like kelly who does not listen to her partner and takes onboard what judges say

I think Stefan's the best skater left in the show
