I think they are the real stars of the show, and deserve their very own appreciation thread! Its worth watching DOI just to see them back on the Ice showing the celebs how it should be done and making it look easy.

Ive always liked them, as a kid I had a video of all their routines and used to watch it over and over again. I remember when they made their comeback and they only got bronze at the 94 Winter Olympics! I was furious!

Its not often that British Sports personalities are at the top of their game, but they were and so much better than anyone else around at the time. They reguarly used to thrash the American's and the Russian's. What British sports star could say that these days? Plus there are always so humble about their achievments.

Love them! Before the show even started we (family etc) have decided to watch the show just to see Torvill & Dean!!!!

And of course gorgeous John is simply the icing on the cake!

I'd love to know if there really was anything romantic between them at some point? They always deny it, but they would have spent so much time together back in the day, skating closely how can they not have been in love with each other?

Apparently the public really wanted them to be together, but in the end they married other people

Was (am) a huge fan of theirs, saw them perform several times after they turned pro, bought the books, the records of their on-ice music etc!

Did you see a documentary, can't remember details such a long time ago, where Chris was really very strict toward Jane during rehearsals and made Jane cried at one point and almost backed out.

Oh yeah, I remember now, this was during the time of their comeback. They were rehearsing for the competition, was it Olympics or one of those Ice Skating Champoinship, well anyway that was when they got bronze , only because the bloody judges deducted points when Chris somersaulted Jane on his back!!!!!

I remember the documentray and how strict he was to Jayne. I seem to recall him telling her she looked like she'd fallen off an airoplane. Thats why I can't fathom why he is so nice to the celebs on the show, I had visions of him being a tyrant.

Ahh i think it's just Chris being such a perfectionist. Although I did feel sorry for Jane at that time.

They're older now & acting as mentors & both doing a great job!!

How lucky and privileged are those celebs. Just hope they appreciate & know what an honour it is for them just to be in the same room as Torvill and Dean, the greatest living partnership in world of ice skating!!

I think some of the celebs can learn a lot more than just how to ice dance from Jayne & Chris. They seem to conduct themselves with such dignity, grace and humility on and off the ice. It's wonderful to see them back on TV!

Just popping in to show my appreciation for these two.
I think they're absolutely amazing, and they've still got it after all this time, just as good as they were years ago

Jayne seems like such a sweetie, and I think she's beautiful too

In reference to SparkleBabe's point, I'd love to think there was something romantic between them too.
Maybe It's just that they're good friends but they never seem to stand together without holding hands or having their arms round each other, and Chris is always kissing Jayne.
I love it, I think It's adorable
Even if theres never been anything between them, I'd like to think there might have been.

Long live the fabulous Torvill and Dean!

I was entranced by Torvill and Dean when I was a kid. Watching them again has reminded me how much I enjoyed watching ice dancing, so I can't wait for the Winter Olympics. I was more than a little gutted when they got the Bronze when they made a comeback instead of the medal they really deserved. If I remember correctly, the medal ceremony was a bit awkward and they got a better reception than the silver and gold medal winners... but that may just be the way my mind chooses to remember it

They were so good that when they performed the abbreviated versions of previous routines such as Mack and Mabel that I actually recognised the steps - now that's cracking choreography for you. Enduring and timeless

They are complete masters of their trade, even now they look perfect together on the ice. I have never seen better. Long live T&D.

I'd second all these sentiments. I watched the documentary about their careers (a much loved old VHS video I've had for years) with my kids for the first time at the weekend and they were transfixed. They had that rare combination of grace, innovation, technical skill and charisma - I love seeing them each week and hope maybe some of their videos might be re-released in DVD format. . . .

You're not the only one with a "thing" for Chris Dean - lookin' good for 47!

But yes - bow down and worship the mighty T and D!

That documentary on BBC1 in '94 - Jayne and Chris have always maintained they were misrepresented when Chris was harsh with Jayne - they said (in their book) that the one morning of tension, just after the Europeans, was spread throughout the documentary to make it look like it was the key to the way they worked together.

The UK should be proud that they have T & D as their own. Chris and Jane are the most incerdible of Ice Dancers . For me , it was a dream come true to be on the ice at the same time as them , they were my childhood heroes , and were always the inspirational level that i pushed towards in my sport career.

I come from a country (russia) that has produced lots of Olympic Champions and has a huge history in Ice Skating , but even there , Chris and Jane are seen as the Best.

They are just as magical to watch now , as they were then.

Breathtaking.

Oh please release the documentary on DVD

I watched, and recorded the short documentary on BBC Interactive, but there is so much more footage to be seen. The passo doble (however it is spelt) from '84 was as wonderful as many free dances.

Last night, Torville and Dean danced in a mesmerizing, hyponotic and beautiful way. The leaps and lifts were done in such a smooth manner, there was Jane, up and over before you realised. How I love them and their ice dancing. They are pure blissful magic to watch. They haven't lost any of their skill. I love them, love them, love them - thank you for the new routine. I bow to their magnificience.

I was amazed by T&D last night. They are still amazing to watch. I remember seeing them 26 years ago. It's unbelievable that they are able to perform at this level in middle-age.

I remember them so well when they won their Olympic gold and again when they won European Gold in 1994 and should have won gold in the 1994 Olympics too but got the bronze instead.

Every week they stun me with their wonderful skating - I almost have tears in my eyes.

C'mon ITV you must bring out a DVD of all their wonderful performances plus the best bits from DOI (especially John's routines)

I think I remember Jayne saying that there was a very short romantic relationship. It was what everyone wanted but it wasn't to be. And perhaps when they went back to being friends and ice dancing partners some of the pressure was removed.

Their trainer Betty (can't remember her surname) said Jayne was passive and easy going; Chris was a fiery perfectionist.

It's a wonderful, affectionate friendship they have. They've known each other so long and been through so much together it's hardly surprising that they're totally comfortable with each other.

Looked on Play.com and nothing on there, so looks like you were right because if Play.com don't have it, then I doubt anywhere else would do it
