No audio in satelite controled recording

I recently got a Philips DVDR3300H and even more recently a Sky box to replace our freeview. Problem being that when I set up the DVDR to record overnight using the 'satellite recording' function (ie, set the items to autoplay on sky, set the DVDR to sat rec and leave both in standby) the recording is triggered just as it should be but I only get video, not audio. I've checked that I am not leaving the sky box in 'mute' somehow. I don't have the problem with recordings made using the DVDR timer, nor, weirdly, if I leave the satrec on when I switch on the sky box manually (which makes recording start).

Anyone got any clues? Both boxes are new enough to go back if faulty, so I want to get to the bottom of this.

I'm going to cross post this to PVR & Sky fora, hope that's OK.

Have you got the scart cable in both ends firmly?
I've got a sat record problem with the same model. Whenever i use sat record it doesn't insert 5 minute chapters, doesn't insert any in fact. Is yours the same? i don't have any audio problems.

Philips released a firmware upgrade for this model last month, which should at least fix the chapter marking in sat-record:

Firmware Version FF13
Release Date 25th January 2006

1. Improved Scart behavior during Timer recording.
2. Improved reading time of commercial discs with media files (e.g. JPEG).
3. Increased stability of HDD playback with repeated PLAY/PAUSE operation.
4. Improved behavior during overlapping timer recordings.
5. Added help-text for EDIT menu.
6. Improved video zoom status box behavior.
7. Improved behavior for dividing certain titles when HDD is full.
8. Improved consistency of the RESUME feature for disc playback.
9. Improved chapter marker behavior during sat recording.
10. Improved audio CD playback in shuffle mode.

Cheers for that info, i'll have to look into getting that at some point.
Don't mean to go further off topic, but have philips added in a choose thumbnail option for recordings and the old mobile phone style alphanumeric system for naming recordings at any point?

Not sure - I didn't know these had been left out! Good old Philips - just when they get you used to having a nice function...

Hmmm... nothing about it in the previous 'ff11_a' firmware update.

hey !!!
I've got a philips HDRW 720 (just over a month old) and a Panasonic Sky Digibox (er, 6 years old lol)
I've activated the Sat Record function on it, and proceeded to test. I set AutoView on a program, swtiched both machines off, and ... not much happened, the Digibow switched on, but not the DVD recorder. I thnik it worked once, but I can't remember how i did it, or if it endeed was the sat record function kicking in (it some how recorded Star Trek, even though I hadn't set it to, I'd only set AutoView).

I need some help lol, because I quite lost with this machine, one day it'll work, the next it doesn't seem to want to !!!
